Courier Back Up

After the bad experience with Poslaju where the network was down for the whole day, I have been thinking that I should get a courier company to back me up when I need to ship out my packages, since EVERY package is urgent.

So far, I am not able to find one that will come and pick up for individual clients. Most will require a corporate account. Does it mean that I will have to incorporate a company? I would rather keep everything simple and not complicate matters.

It would be ideal if there is a local courier company that would come and pick up my packages and yet charge me the normal shipping rate. I was told that corporate clients enjoy cheaper rates, even cheaper than what Poslaju is charging.

Well, we will have to see. Hope this does not happen a second time.

Online Shopping Glitch

I thought that after my blog post on the big name online store, all my woes would be over, but NO. Today, I finally checked out my order and guess what? They could not save my "recipient's name" and now, it's a mismatched of my name with a different delivery address.

Since they are shipping by DHL, I do not know if this will serve as a problem or not. Will DHL refuse to hand over the package to the real recipient, and do they need the real recipient to show some sort of identification, which he will not be able to do since he is there and I am here.

I don't know, I feel like even my small store is way better than this big name kick ass branded online store, with their problem after problem.

To be frank, I do not know why there is a need for such a website. Maybe gays are prejudiced even in making purchases of cars. To be considered gay-friendly, a company has to offer domestic-partner benefits to their gay employees. This information is not easy to find but GayWheels did it.

Is It All About The Money?

Today I had a little time on my hands so I decided to check out the little banners that are found on Lelong.com.my. I don't know about other people but my eyes are actually trained to take no notice of banner ads or AdSense for that matter, even though I myself have monetized my blog with AdSense. Besides, most browsers have the option to filter out ads.

Well, I think that Lelong has to do better than to only look at the revenue. What are the ads that I see about bust or penis enlargement treatments, sex toy online store, about get rich quick schemes or about high yield investment programs just to name a few.

Come on, Lelong should have a moral obligation towards its members to NOT let them fall into HYIP schemes, for example.

Lelong, as an established local auction platform with high traffic, should take more care into what ads to accept and which to reject and not only look into revenue and profits. No doubt, any income is most welcome but I feel that to have more than two aphrodite ads is one ad too many.

I JUST had to miss out on watching th Oscars on Sunday! What a bummer but luckily, I had the lo down from the trusted Belisi Blog: How to Look Like an Oscar Starlet. Yes, I do need all the tips I can on looking like an Oscar Starlet.

According to the blog, it is a no-no to show off any lingerie bumps and lumps under that dress. The best way to keep those out of sight in not to wear any but trust Victoria's Secret to come up with just the type of lingerie for plunging neckline dresses!

And my, am I glad that platforms are back. It's time to bring out the used-to-be out of style shoes.

Writing About Companies

I recently blogged about a lingerie company. After publishing it for one day, I decided to keep it as a draft copy first. To me surprise, though, staff from this company managed to pick up that blog post and came to read what I had to write.

Blogging is a very effective tool as evidenced from my blog post.

I had some issues with this company earlier, but after that post was read by an insider, the issues were resolved just like that. I was not informed about it, though, and only found out when I logged into my account with this website.

I would be left in the dark if I haven't logged in and kept waiting for an email reply. Oh well. But am I glad that everything is in order now so everyone can move on.

My friend who works in a bank is very careful with money. I always get his advice before I do anything that would put me in a financial risk and he never goes wrong each time.

There was once when I was looking to apply for a credit card and did not know which to choose, whoa, he told me all about the pros and cons of credit cards and told me the best cards are those that give us money back for every dollar spent!

When I wanted to get a housing loan, he was there to advise me about loans too, and I was glad that he told me not to apply for one yet while the Base Lending Rate was high.

He always has some sort of horror story to tell me from bad mortgages to lousy car insurance policies. The best advice he gave me was not to place all my money in my savings accounts but to invest them, or at least put them in fixed deposit accounts.

Kevin made me Blog of The Day on Fuel My Blog again. Boy, I am so honoured. I always feel that a business blog is boring but eCommerce should be interesting enough. It is a new way of doing business where everyone wants to be a part of because they think it is easy.

Well, it does APPEAR to be easy but it definitely is as challenging as setting up a brick and mortar store. Maybe the difference is in the capital outlay and the need for search engine optimization services for an online store! If there is no eCommerce, there definitely can't be that many people in business. eCommerce has helped many people explore their entrepreneurship and practically anyone with an iota of business sense can now be a Boss.

Although business may be boring and a blog on business is worse, at least there are people who found my blog when they are looking for information and this is where I derive satisfaction from.

My friend was surprised that I am always complaining about the broadband internet service that I have. That's the problem when the service is oversubscribed and the network is not upgraded.

My friend works in India and subsscribes to India Broadband. He told me that surprisingly, it is one of the best service he has ever used and believe me, he has used many from all the travels he chalked up. So he is fit to compare the broadband services from many different countries.

He told me that he hangs out at the tata indicom forum where he could ask questions and fellow members would reply him in a friendly manner.

You bet he is very satisfied with the service and it will do good for our broadband provider to emulate their Indian counterpart!

How many times have you surfed an auction site and get all excited with a low starting / sale price of MYR1 only? There have been many cases, old story already, where buyers are "tricked" into clicking on an item due to the MYR1 displayed only to find out that "special postage rates apply".

Although I am a seller myself, I don't condone such practices. That's trickery it you ask me and a waste of Buyer's time.

Another Freebie Order

I just received two orders for freebies today, made by one person. I do not want to speculate if this is the same person as the one who made freebies orders during the Chinese New Year, but truth be told, such people are pissing me off more and more.

Now, whenever I see an order coming in, the first thought that comes to mind is, "Is this genuine?" Yes, it's that hard to come by and currently there are more fake orders than real ones.

Whenever I receive such orders, I will just mail them back to let them know that their order does not qualify for a free, or their order is invalid or their delivery address is erroneous, whichever applicable.

It is a waste of time to even write to these people, cancel their orders and restock the store, but I guess to these people, anything goes for a freebie! If you are inconvenienced, it is your own problem.

No Use Curbing Internet Access

Henry complained to me about how fed-up he is of his staff spendng the whole day at the computer but not being able to hand in reports on time.

That's why he does not offer internet access to his staff but that only causes work to slow down since most communication with overseas suppliers are via email.

I told him that curbing internet access is not the answer but installing spy software on the computers is.

He was taken aback by the set up cost but I told him is it worthwhile and will only be to his advantage. With a spy software, and lettig the staff know that it has been installed, will only serve to increase productivity.

February - The Shortest Month, A Quiet Month

There are only 28 days in February. Out of these 28 days, three are Sundays, first Saturday off, one day to celebrate Thaipusam (and also Federal Territory Day) and two for Chinese New Year.

And that leaves how many working days? 17 full working days and 3 Saturdays.

Red Chinese New Year Underwear

Have you noticed the sea of red in the men's underwear section? I've seen so many red underwear from China in the pasar malam until my eyes glazed over. At the mall, brand names like B.U.M. has caught the fever too.

Video Conferencing Like Real Meeting

Like I mentioned earlier, Paul is going to set up a brand office in London, while he will continue to be based in New York. So most of his communication with his staff in London will be via video conferencing.

He found this to be a better mode of communication that email or fax since it would be like holding a face to face meeting. Not only is this effective, it is also cost effective than traveling to and fro between two continents all the time.

According to Paul, video conferencing is reliable and easy to set up. The video quality is excellent too and there is no slack in video or voice rendering which makes it all the more real life.

Freebie Or No Freebie

Actually, I have wondered about this for quite a long time. More so especially with the recent spam orders for freebies despite having written clearly the basic requirements to meet in order for a buyer to receive the freebies.

I wonder if I should continue to give out freebies. I know they may not be much but I have given out big priced as well as smaller priced items. The thing is, not everyone is appreciative of a freebie. Some do thank me but most fail to even mention it when they update me.

Now, I do know that Victoria's Secret freebies are very tempting but I have clearly stipulated the basic requirements to be met in the description.

It amazes me how greedy one can be. I did not even bother to take screen shots of his kiasu orders. If you want it, just meet the requirements. If not, you can offer to buy them off me.

These may be freebies to a buyer but they are cost to me and everyone knows that Victoria's Secret don't come cheap.

Sometimes I wonder if I am doing the right thing to list freebies on the store. You wouldn't believe the amount of time I waste communicating with these jokers, processing their orders and restocking.

As of now, I still do not know if the RM15 deal will conclude successfully.

I recently came across a free service offered by Smart PageRank.com. You know how I have more than ten blogs and websites. Well, I tell you, it is NOT easy to keep track of their Page Ranks regularly.

After joining Smart PageRank, though, I have this aspect taken care of as an email will be automatically sent to me should any of my PageRank is updated. Moreover, PageRank from multiple datacenters are checked as well. With so many datacenters, this beats checking manually!

OOPS My Storefront

*sigh* It's Valentine's Day and I have totally forgotten to change my store front in conjunction with this special day. So how? Does it mean that I am not celebrating Valentine's Day? Well, as far as I know, I am not celebrating it.

Will I be changing my storefront to a Chinese New Year theme like last year, then? No, I don't think so. It is too much hassle and besides, there is still no new stock in sight.

Furthermore, the coming year will be the year of Boar. I don't see how my storefront can have an image of a boar without offending my Muslim buyers.

Anyway, my sifu told me that it is better to have products on the landing page to grab visitors' attention and not some huge irrelevant graphics. That would be wasting valuable website real estate.

A blog was recently brought to my attention written by a big-headed English young man, called Take More Risks.

He is 23 years old and thinks that he will be a millionaire soon. If he thinks that keeping a blog and a couple of sites, selling link ads and doing paid posts will turn him into a millionaire SOON, he has something coming for him then.

This is the third time someone checked out from my store with all freebies only. The first time, I was left to wonder why people can show greediness of this degree. The second time, I wondered do people read? And it made me wonder if there is something wrong with my writing. Was I not clear enough in my description?

A few days ago, I received yet another freebie order. OK, so it's Valentine's Day and this chap may be too poor to buy his girlfriend a gift. So he came up with a brilliant idea of grabbing freebies for her.

Self-employed Financially Insecure But Happy

I recently came across an interesting article on the financial news portal, Lombard Direct.

In the article "Self-employed 'financially insecure but happy'", have to agree with the article about self-employed people being more happy than people who are working for other companies. Well, I have been on both sides of the spectrum before and I can say that I love working for myself, where I dictate what I want to do NOW or tomorrow, but there can be times where I get desperate financially, but so far, I have always managed, which I believe anyone with a tremendous amount of discipline can do.

For the self-employed, the sky is literally the limit.

Valentine's Sales

Hahaha don't get me wrong. There is NO Valentine's sales going on at Cyberpartygal's WebStore. Rather, I'm delighted to report that I managed to clinched a few deals in conjunction with Valentine's Day. All these without being able to bring in new stocks with the Valentine's theme.

Call it commercialism, call it whatever you like. Which guy who is in a relationship dares to raise the wrath of his partner by not bringing her a gift on such a significant day? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, you know?!?

I am so glad that my buyers have found my webstore and trusted me enough to make purchases. Hopefully we will continue to have a strong business relationship in years to come.

To Be Politically Vocal

Politics have always been our dinner discussion. I believe it is the same for most family, even if we do not have politicians as family members. I grew up listening to all these discussions and I can differentiate what is real and what is political talk to butter up to the people to fish for votes. One has to read between the lines and not be sold towards everything that the newspaper publishes.

Now with the internet and more importantly, a Web 2.0 portal like Rebutter.com, Politics will never be the same.

The general public will be all the more aware of political propaganda. Rebutter.com allows its users to rebut any political statement, press release or campaign talk by any politician. It doesn't matter which way you swing, you have the chance you voice out and be heard.

Your opinion will be open for public votes and the wittier your rebuttal is, the more people will read and if the majority of the public agrees to your comment, they will vote for you, just like digg.com.

The three rebuttals with the highest votes will be featured alongside the political statement that is being rebutted and people will be able to compare and discern the real scenario.

I love this idea as it allows people to be politically vocal, at last!

When my sister was looking for a house to buy, I told her that I have good news for her. It's all from time spent surfing all the websites!

In A Quest To Be Debt Free

I have to admit that after a whirlwind shopping spree trying to act Santa and get gifts for all the good people in my life, I am rather broke. That was seven weeks ago and it's getting mighty tough to meet my credit card bills.

So I thought to myself that I MUST do something about my habit of buying now, pay later. My friend told me to read Bills.com's Debt Freedom guide site, which I did and I find their savings calculator very useful. What I really needed, though, is the free personal finance budget guide which can be downloaded in .pdf format.

I have downloaded and even printed it out because I told myself that I have to read the guide weekly, if not twice a week, to remind myself on how to budget my finances. It is very applicable to my life and after reading it, I have started to use my credit card a lot less, if not at all.

Also, I will try to set a meaningful goal which is actually the first tip in the guide. Firstly, I will set a goal that is attainable and achievable before setting higher goals that will need more effort to reach.

I am positive that with the guide to remind me every day, I will be debt free soon.
