A friend, Jack, told me that investing in real estate is the fastest way to be come up. Of course, to invest into real estate would require quite a big capital as well. The Hassle of Moving

Although I have only relocated a couple of times in my life, I tell you, my experiences have been terrible I have sworn off moving forever. However, a friend of mine has moved so many times, she has lost count. I think that she moves t least twice a year due to the nature of her husband's job.

I asked her how she can manage to juggle the tasks of moving and keeping her sanity and she laughs it off saying that she has movers doing all the work. Well, how could she trust them?

Apparently, unlike myself who flip though the Yellow Pages for contact information of movers, what my friend did was to look for a mover from a database of movers who have joined a network. This network has the responsibility of vetting these moving companies before allow them to join hence if you engage a moving company from this network, you will know that they are as reliable as you can get!

Printing Name & Address On Cheques

I told a friend that I received 100 leaves of blank cheques and I do not know how to finish them. Since these are US cheques, no one here would want to accept them so I would only have the chance to issue them when I make purchases from overseas and even so, only when they do not accept PayPal payments or payments by credit card, which would be rare, right?

So I was saying that with my address printed on my cheques, I wonder if I would still be living in this house since this is my parents' place and of course, I do not expect to live here forever, right?

My friend commented that I am stupid to ask to have my name and address printed on these cheques because it would be risky. Come to think of it, he is right. But in my defense, I did not know that hey would be sending me five books! I thought that they would only send a book. Heck, they should have asked me first how many books I want since I am paying for them!

They, however, only have a handful of colours in this range, but these are very vibrant and young colours.

Juggling Studies As A Working Adult

Some of you who know me personally will know that I used to promote an online college. Well, that belongs to my Uncle. Haha! I no longer promote his courses not because they are expensive or not good enough but because a friend commented that I should not link education with lingerie. Haha!!!

He did, however, ask me if this college offers masters degree in counseling. I had to tell him no but I know that Capella University, an accredited college with online and offline campuses do offer this course.

Grasp of a Language

Yesterday, I read an article written by an American and my goodness, he should be ashamed of himself to be an American, with English as his mother tongue. You know what? Though people complain that people do not have a good grasp of the English language, we at least know a few languages and that is a plus point. What is the benefit of only speaking one language and not speaking it well at all?

I mentioned that to allow our readers a smooth experience coming to our blogs, we have to write in a smooth flow so that people want to continue reading what we write.

This guy, actually, I already know of his blog for more than a year but hve not the chance to read him that regularly though I am subscribed to his blog via email. Anyway, he does know that he needs to brush up on his command of the language but after so many long months, I did not see an improvement at all.

But then, he is his own boss and runs a rather successful business online or so he claims, so why do I worry?

Waiting For News

The other day, I went to a few computer stores in one of the shopping complexes called Yik Foong. This is a really old building and already past its prime, yet many IT companies have opened businesses there, making it sort of like Low Yat Plaza of Ipoh.

Anyway, I went there to shop for a laptop. One of the bosses, a lady told me that if I could wait a little while, prices would be a little more stable, meaning I would be paying the current price but get specifications that are more up-to-date.

My friend told me that with laptops, the moment I buy it, the moment its value will drop. Still, if I could buy one with the latest specifications, I would not fall back that far. Whatever the case, I can hold on a little while longer at least until this Friday, when she will be emailing me with more information on new laptop units.

If you are shopping for a laptop as well, it will be wise to listen to this lady and hold first. How about we hold on till PC Fair which will be in early - mid April this year? LOL

Often times I have questioned myself, sometimes aloud, "Hey, how come my things aren't selling???" I guess it may not have been a long time but when you are required to relist your items almost daily, it would SEEM like a tremendously long time since you have held on to your stocks.

What do you do, then? I know what I do is to continue selling. I will continue to relist my items over and over if and when required, steadfastly. Luckily though, I found that I don't need to utilize the bells and whistles features that are available for us to use AT A SMALL FEE hence, listing of my items are all free.

If you ever found yourself in this situation, just be stubborn and have faith in your sales. Have faith in your procurement skills and sooner or later, somebody will see the beauty of your products!

Although I have been a member of YouTube, I have only just started to upload videos there to share with other members and internet users. I am still amazed at the varied video content that is on the website.

With the many credit cards that are flooding the market, honestly, I have already lost touch of their benefits. Each credit card issuer will come up with attractive benefits and rewards to try to outdo each other and get as many members are possible.

Frankly, I do not know because getting a credit card will depend on their usage of the card, what rewards and benefit they prefer and how much they spend. Mobile Number Portability

Since I plan to switch my 3G subscription from Celcom to Maxis, I am also planning to wait to do so only after Mobile Number Portability has been implemented in Malaysia. It has been reported that this will be rolled out sometime in mid-2008 and that is just months away.

I hope that it will be in fully implemented by July, at the latest because by then, I would no longer be tied to my Celcom voice line subscription which I have signed for twelve months and paid in advance so I am waiting for that before I could move.

I would prefer to move with my current number. I wonder if I will be able to keep my 019 prefix since my number is already printed on my business card.

A friend told me that advertisers' demand on blog advertising is getting more and more ridiculous. If you are a publisher, I am sure you may have noticed it. I did but I thought nothing much about it since I never bother with what I cannot obtain.

However, my friend sent me two screenshots and said that if the advertiser knows how the internet works, they will not be asking for such requirements.

Well, in these two screenshots, I am not even going to point out why publishers are unhappy with them,. Doing these things do not endear the advertiser to the publisher and you know, if a publisher is happy with an advertiser, he/she will do so much more for the advertiser, more than the minimum requirement!

Seeking & Filling Salon Jobs

I went to get a hair cut the other day and two girls who work there told me that they want a change of scene. They said that the pay is low here and they feel that they are not given the opportunity to improve on their skills or learn new things on the job.

I can sympathize with that because it's Ipoh, what can we expect? Most employers will employ a person and get this person to work three different things for one pay check. Well, it's the mentality of the employers here.

These girls told me that they would like to look for salon jobs that allow them to enhance the skills that they already have and maybe get additional training and refreshers course.

I told them that they could search for salon jobs right on the internet such as from sites like Beauty Jobs which was set up specifically for the purpose of seeking and filling beauty and salon jobs!

From Celcom 3G to Maxis 3G

I have recently contemplated switching from Celcom 3G to Maxis 3G though I am uncertain how strong Maxis 3G signal is in my area. But the primary reason that I am subscribed to a 3G line is as a back up for my Steamyx Broadband. I am sure that we all know how Streamyx can act up occasionally and I definitely cannot afford to be offline.

The thing is, and it did happen to me the other day, Streamyx and Celcom share the same internet backbone and if it is a major glitch that crippled Streamyx, Celcom may be similarly affected.

Like I said, this happened to me the other day and it made me feel useless to have subscribed to two packages and yet not being able to connect to the internet. This prompted my reasoning of changing to Maxis 3G. I could, of course, subscribe to a Maxis 3G data line but that would be more than enough for me already.

Procrastinated & Forgotten!

My goodness, how have I procrastinated! I had intended to meet up with a friend of mine who is an insurance agent to ask him about the different life policies that may be suitable for me and get life insurance quotes from him so hat I can plan and see how well buying a life insurance would fit my budget but I kept delaying and delaying due to work and forgetfulness that it I just realized it has been almost a YEAR since I mentioned it to him.

Actually, I totally forgot about it lately until he gave me a call wishing me GONG XI FA CAI. And I was embarrassed. You know, when you have forgotten about things that are important to the other party, it's like telling him that he is nobody significant him your life. Haha!

Sure, insurance is important to me too but it's his livelihood. I dared not tell him that I forget but I put it down to a tight schedule. LOL

Why Some Brands Are Stickier

Building a brand name is an art form all by itself. Sometimes you wonder why some brand names will stick to our minds far easier than other brand names. Is it because the sticky ones are easier to pronounce? Is it because they are easier to spell? Or is it because they are relevant to our lives or are things that we can easily associate with?

In my marketing class, we used to be grouped into teams and we have to put in equal effort to come up with words and words of sounds that we associate with an item. Let's say we are trying to brand a shampoo, so we would have to come up with all sorts of words that people associate with shampoo. That really tested our vocabulary.

Well, some of you may know that I dropped out of college due to certain reasons but I have always found marketing and branding interesting. Do You Have A Problem With PayPal?

Are you affected buy the glitch that PayPal is having where people who withdrew funds to their Visa or MasterCard debit and credit cards do not have their funds cleared even after a long time? A friend of mine has really waited for a month and although he has been assured that the money is safe and sound, it does not help that the money is "locked". I wonder how many people are still in this situation.

This is because I am about to withdraw my funds. It is high time and I have not done so for a month but I wonder if I could withdraw it as usual to my Public Bank Visa Electron Debit card or do I not take the risk and withdraw my funds to my US bank account.

I’d rather have the money in my local bank account mainly because service fee is way lower and also it’s great to have cash on hand since I am in the market for a laptop. Well, if the glitch is fixed, I want to withdraw my money already.

Lelong's Slow Loading & Broken Feature

I have wanted to mention this a long time ago after Lelong underwent a revamp. I don't know about you but the site loads so much slower for me. This is especially slow when I first access the site and if you are tab browsing, you will realise that Lelong jams up the browser.

It is an awful user experience and I wonder how many casual browsers Lelong has driven away with the revamp where they added in unnecessary stuff.

Also, I would just like to mention here that it seems that I no longer am able to leave feedbacks to my buyers for my For Sale items. Is the feature broken or something? It can't seem to find my item even if I did enter the correct Item ID and the item is still active and in my archive.

I don’t really recall how long this has been going on but I know that I missed leaving feedback to a few of my Buyers because I was unable to. Hopefully Lelong will fix it soonest but do they even know that this broken in the first place?

I Need A Break Desperately

I told my friend that I need a break desperately because of all the work stress that I have been facing these few days. Sometimes I feel like I would break down mentally if I do not go away. My friend suggested that we go on one of those romantic Cancun Vacations. That just cracks me up because as you know, people got to Cancun for honeymoons and rendezvous! Platonic friends don't go there for holidays.

If I were to go there, I would definitely want to be with someone I love so that we can have ever lasting memories there in Cancun, and maybe be naughty at the secluded adult beach or something HAHAHA

When It Rains, It Pours

I am so terribly busy right now, you would not believe it. You know, sometimes people say that life in retail is predictable because you roughly know when people will be buying things like Valentine's Day and Christmas. But to me, Christmas was quiet, mainly because I did not have stocks in my WebStore. I was busy with real life work. DUH!

So, I thought that Valentine’s Day would be busy but it was everything BUT. Sure, I received orders and did some sales before Valentines' Day. Some of the others, though, that I thought was for Valentine’s Day, were not paid for but the buyers only paid for them well after Valentine’s Day. This means that they did not by them for Valentine’s Day.

It makes you wonder sometimes, if there is a special day that you don’t know of. With the brisk sales lately, I am left to wonder if people give out lingerie as gifts for Chap Goh Meh now. Is it a new trend that I do not know of? LOL

Survey Spot Check

Last month, a lady from this survey company came to my house and requested that I help her with the survey. It's about mobile phone plans, how much we spend on it and what do we usually use our phone for, calling, texting, surfing the internet or downloading mobile content.

So I did and this lady told me that her company may give me a call to ask me about the survey. So yesterday, the company really did call and I nearly forgotten that I did the survey, I could hardly even remember the company name already.

What the people in the office of this company did was to call up survey participants and basically go through the whole survey again OVER THE PHONE. From what I see, they wanted to match our replies on the survey form and over the phone to make sure that those who were sent to the ground to take these surveys really did approach people and not simply fill up the forms by themselves.

The survey as taken so long ago and between then and yesterday's phone call, I have already forgotten so many minute details like how long ago was it since I first owned a mobile line. Luckily I still remember my personal particulars LOL

How many hours do people who work from home put into their work? From the many work from home ladies that I talked to, many told me that they put in way longer hours than they did when they were working outside.

Another thing is that many do not know how to separate work with family life and household chores. They told me that they usually end up giving priority to the home first, then work, then themselves.

I always believe that if you want to get to know a place better, then you should pick up a copy of the local magazine. This held true when a friend of mine was visiting Denver, Colorado and I told her about the local feature-rich Denver Magazine that has plenty of articles about local life, culture and activities.

True enough, the friend said that she managed to see so many different things and participated in many local activities that she read in the magazine. She didn’t even have to look up the local tourism office or ask the locals where to go or what to do.

Being alone on the trip, Denver Magazine was truly a great companion for her. She said that because it was a business trip, she did not have much time to pack in Denver into her schedule but the magazine helped her make the most out of her free time.

Time For A New Theme

How long has it been since I have used this theme? I think it is high time I change it to something else to refresh my blog, don't you think so?

Well, I spent the better part of last night scouring the internet looking for Blogger templates but I could not find one that I really liked. I tried changing my themes for a few times and it seems that no matter which I choose, and think that I could like using for a long time, there will be something wrong somewhere that I do not like, cannot live with and don't know how to fix.

Isn't it funny that only two short months ago, I was learning HTML then I was forced to learn CSS and now, I am back to XML.

I tell you, all those coding really drive me crazy and makes me crossed-eyed! Luckily I am just the end user. If I were the theme creator, I would have ended up in Tanjung Rambutan!

Really No Luck

This month has been exceptionally bad for me in terms of revenue. I know that there was the long Chinese New Year holiday that disrupts my work and this month is a short month with only 29 days, though we did gain one day from previous non-leap years.

Whatever it is, it has been a tough ride and it seems to me that I cannot find my footing at all. I wonder if it has something to do with my celestial calculations.

My friend told me that people who work for themselves will always see ups and downs in their income. Sometimes there will be bumper months and sometimes there won’t. Whatever the case, we have to see it through.

I told this friend that even if we were to work for others, we could also lose our job and end up with nothing right? I know, I am always being negative! But I have seen my friends who lost everything once they get the boot from their company, no matter how highly ranked they were or how much they were paid.

Once the company thinks that they have finished using you, you will be shown the door. At least I see this happening all too often in the public sector!

Working More Efficiently

A few short months ago, I tried to justify to my friend, Marc, why I do not need a laptop. I was saying that without a laptop, I would be forced to leave my work in the office or at work and will not bring it with me wherever I go. You know me, I am such a workaholic that I need to be connected all the time and working.

Even so, I do have my mobile device with me and the Apple iPhone all the time. I may not be able to work properly but I would still be on the ball.

Well, that was a few months ago, in November or December, 2007.

Now, I am thinking that WITH a laptop, I would be able to work so much more efficiently. At least, I would not be suffering from any down time if I have a back up system. I do have another running machine, a desktop computer, but it does not afford me the mobility that a laptop will.

So, get it? Don't get it??

So I did reply to the email but that was the last I heard from this person. Now, don't you think it is extremely rude? He/she should at least have said thank you, the information you gave is really helpful or not helpful at all.

But to keep totally silent just because you have received the answer to your questions is extremely rude to me. Don't you think so? Of course, this is not the first person or will this be the last.

Deferred Payment

Yesterday, I received payment for an item that the Buyer placed on order for on 31st January, 2008. If you are a regular customer, you will know that I only allow three days for payment. It does not matter if the three days are working days or public holidays because banking is so convenient now that it does not make a difference.

So this person placed an order, which I confirmed but there was no response from him. After a couple of days, I sent him a reminder and there was no reply as well. I then cancelled his order after two weeks.

This time, I gave him a longer period to pay since it was the Chinese New Year holidays and I could not ship out anyway. Well, since he did not reply, took it that he had changed his mind and relisted my item so that other people will have a chance to buy it.

Whoa, suddenly this person made payment to me and the odd thing is that he did not even have the courtesy to let me know that he has made payment. But before that, I really would appreciate if you are deferring your payment, to let me know about it so that I don't have to keep waiting, keep checking my bank account or to waste time relisting the item.

Business cum Learning Trip

Last night, I was chatting with a friend who told me that she is going to South Carolina on business this weekend. She works as a real estate agent and I m really envious that she gets to travel to so many places and handle so many beautiful homes. I heard that we have to take an exam and pass it in order to be a Realtor.

Well, this friend told me that there is a piece of South Carolina land for sale which is has to check out. She actually does not like all the traveling but her boss says that this is a chance to learn. I think she is lucky to be selected but she thinks that she is being picked on because she is single.

I wish my work requires me to travel so that I can get paid to holiday but I have no such luck!

How Many People Are Affected By PayPal This Time?

A couple of friends I know who did a PayPal withdrawal recently have their funds delayed for a long time. They did this withdrawal back in January and one of them got the funds seven days after that while another is still waiting.

The difference between these two people is that one status is still showing Pending while the other showed Completed.

According to PayPal staff, when it is showing Completed but the funds are still not cleared, it is a problem with our bank that caused the delay. And a Pending status means that the glitch is on their side.

It seems that this problem started on 20th January, 2008. The problem with PayPal is that they should at least post a notice on PayPal upon log in, that there is a problem that could cause a delay. But no. They still allowed us to continue making withdrawals and having our money stuck till don't know when. This is not the way to do things, is it?

I was supposed to help my aunt check out cheap but good quality plumbing fixtures for her two bathrooms. Normally, I would enjoy such a task if I was doing it for my own home but my aunt is a very fussy and typical Ipoh resident who wants cheap, wants good and wants Fast. The best is if she could get all three in a package. Incliner Sleep Wedge For Acid Reflux Sufferers

Some of you probably know that I suffer from gastritis once in awhile. A friend told me that he has found that an incliner sleep wedge that he bought not too long ago for his acid reflux has been very helpful and he wanted to know if this would be good for me too.

I don’t know why I have always wanted to own boots but I know that once I got them, I most probably will chuck them aside and not wear them but I really like the elegance that boots exude. Boots are best for people with long legs and not shorties like me!

It's not a matter of whether I can afford it or not but I'd probably look like Humpty Dumpty. That's why I never bothered trying one on. The Volatility of the US Dollar

The US Dollar has declined so much in recent weeks that it is affecting the businesses of people who trade in the Dollar. This is especially so for importers. A long time ago, was it only months ago, or has it been more than a year already, I really don't remember unless I do a search of my old posts, I wrote that eBay has taken Perfume Bay to court for using the word BAY.

I was privately rooting for Perfume Bay to win, even though I make a living on eBay, mainly because Perfume Bay is owned by an Asian in the United States and we Asians have to stand tall, right? Cannot let others bully us, right?

It is too bad that apparently, though I did not follow the court case since I hate legal stuff, Perfume Bay now has to get a name change and a domain change this 1st March, 2008.

Do you think that the will have to start rebuilding their brand from scratch or will their currently customers adopt their new image and brand name automatically like a duck to water?

Matching Tiles

One of these days, I would have to go to Courts where they sell flooring, kitchen and bathroom tiles and get a match for the tile sample that my aunt wants for her home and I was also supposed to get a quotation for her but from my phone call to the store, they would have to come and measure the area before they could estimate the number of tiles required and then only issue a quote from there.

Ok, I have to admit, I don't really like to go running around for things like these, especially when it is not my own home BUT for my aunt, I try to do as many things as possible for her because she has helped my family a lot so now when she wants stuff like these done, I will help her, what to do?

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask my aunt where she got the tile sample because she should go back to the same store for convenience but maybe that place is a tad out of her budget. I’ll have to ask her!

Getting Forgetful

I was supposed to remind a friend to buy his HDMI mini cables for the stereo that he is fixing. Well, we went out to this during the first day of Chinese New Year where all shops were closed for the New Year but there was a shop that was opened.

We did not go to that area intentionally to buy from the shop but since we were already there, my friend said to remind him to drop by at the store before we head for him.

After we finished with our stuff, we headed home straightaway without getting the cables. Haha I felt bad because I was supposed to remind him and yet I totally forgot about it, and I didn't even have to drive.

My friend thought that he would be able to tinker with his stereo a little more since it is the holidays but now without the cables, he can't complete his project or test it. I told him that it is just as well. Without the cables, he will have more time to socialize and not locked up in the room with his stereo!

Searching For Watches For Ladies

I have been browsing a lot of online stores that sell ladies' watches. I thought that I would buy one for my sister as a birthday gift since her birthday is at the end of the month. I bought her a watch a few years back but plastic watches do not cut it anymore. We are adults now and cute watches are out already!

No More Shipping Until 11th February, 2008

I was supposed to send a package out yesterday after payment from the Buyer has cleared. I did tell him to make payment latest by the morning of 5th February, 2008, so that I can ship out his item on 5th and he will receive it on 6th.

The post office will close from 7th onwards and if I were to ship out on 6th, yesterday, when the Buyer made his payment, it would mean that the package will be in the closed post office for DAYS until it opens for business again and delivery could be made on the 11th.

No way do I trust the post office enough to keep my package safely for DAYS. I mean, there really is no guarantee that "something" will not happen when packages are locked inside for days, you know?

It is better to be safe than sorry so this particular package will only be sent out on Monday and will arrive to the Buyer on Tuesday, 12th February, 2008, which is only one day delay. Well, not my fault when I specifically stated why I needed the payment as soon as possible.

This Is So Odd

This morning, I received an email purportedly from my own email address. The sender is my email address and when I check the properties, it is MY email address. I know that there is a software that could mask the real sender and it makes the email seemingly from whatever email address this fake sender inputs but I am not taking any chances and have since changed my email password.

I did log in to my account as soon as that fake email hit my inbox to see it the email has a copy in my Sent Folder but there was none. I wondered for a moment if the email did originate from my Inbox. I don't think it did.

I wonder how many people did receive this email purportedly from me, touting a 52% discount on Viagra. Ekkkk!!!! If you did receive the email and if you know who I am or came to this blog, then please drop me a line to let me know! Thank you in advance!

Effective Protection Against Malware

Did you hear that there are more than seventy variants of malware released on the internet daily? I can only say one word. WOW! Now that I know this trivia, I am not even surprised anymore when my computer gets infected.

I used to wonder why I can get infected when I don't even surf to sites of suspect but a friend told me that I can only not get infected if I do not even connect to the internet, or best yet, do not even turn on the computer! So, how am I supposed to work then??

What A Compliment

This morning, a fellow blogger came to my other Blog and spent a couple of hours reading my old posts. If you remember, not too long ago, another guy spent two days reading my most recent post and flipped though every single page of my blog until the first post. Isn't that creepy?

So, this morning, this guy came and read and he left me comments across a few posts disputing what I wrote. He said that I was misleading my readers with facts. I think that he should read clearly and understand what I wrote first before simply shooting off comments in an accusatory tone.

Well, I may or may not have said that the service of Company A is good but that is only relative to my own experience with them. I can't say and will never say that this company has the best service, right?

So, while I do appreciate a new blog reader, I hope that I managed to write my blog in an easy to understand way so that readers do not get confused.

Not 8 Enough

Some of you probably know that I used to write a celebrity gossip blog. Well, I left that blog idle a year ago after a couple of posts only because my workload got too heavy and I could not spare the time to develop my blog, unfortunately.

Well, a couple of weeks ago, I set up a new celebrity gossip blog in my own domain and I have been filling it up with posts while working on the layout and the nitty gritty stuff that goes into building a blog.

It's a lot of work but it is something that I enjoy writing on so it does not feel like work, but still, I can only take care of it when my real work is completed.

Anyway, a friend told me that my English is too proper and that from the few posts, I came across as not "8" enough. So I told her that I would start peppering my posts with swear words. Will that work? Or do I have to be mean to these so-called celebrities?

Artful Wears Fashion Galore

My friend, Julie, is aghast when she discovered that I do not have any new clothes for the New Year yet. You know, I am such a simple person that I see no reason why we should have new clothes for the New Year, in particular. Julie, however, is a shopaholic and she is always looking for excuses to shop and what a better occasion it is to shop that to shop for the New Year?

So, I promised that I would at least make an effort to shop. Since I do not have the time to physically scour the malls, I was told of an online boutique called Artful Wears. Upgrading To A Checking Account

About six months ago, I opened a savings account with an American bank. They did not allow me to access internet banking until my account is at least six months old. It's now past six months since I opened my account and I will be calling them up to allow me to use internet banking for my account.

I do understand that they did it for security purposes but it is a tad inconvenient without access to my account online. Calling them up, although free and open 24 hours a day, takes up too much of my time.

I am also thinking of upgrading my savings account to a checking account. After six months, I think it is better for me to have checks. I may need to pay for purchases in the United States if they do not accept PayPal.

Although this is only a free savings account and will be a free checking account when I upgrade, it would still be great. Well, zero interest is fine by me.
