Recently, I received two e-mails from e-gold.com. I do not have an account with them. I know they are trying to phish, that's why I deleted them straightaway without bothering to open the email.
I know it may not be a big deal. I get similar emails from eBay. Although I trade on eBay, the emails are always sent to my email address that is not linked to my eBay.
The same with Paypal.
These emails are easy to detect because they did not go to my regular email address that is linked to these sites. I shudder to think of the mess that would be made should I really click on 'em links in the email.
Anyway, just be careful. It's better to be safe than sorry.
