Mr. Firdaus Kharas, the Director and Executive Producer of Magic Cellar, who is based in Ottawa, Canada, was in New York to receive the award in early February, 2007.
Did you know that Mr. Kharas is the pioneer in cross-cultural communications and by creating an animation series like Magic Cellar, he is utilizing animation and television to better human conditions and relations.
This is a really great animated television series and I am very glad that they are recognized with a Gold Medal at a festival as prestigious as the New York Festivals.
Magic Cellar has its own animated website. Do visit the Magic Cellar characters at http://www.magiccellar.tv/ It is an interactive website and exactly like watching them on television. It is fun to browse around.

Magic Cellar
I recently came across an interesting, heart-warming and inspiring animated series called "Magic Cellar". I think it has got to be the only animated series on African culture. Last week, I got to know that Magic Cellar, was awarded Gold and Silver World Medals at the 50th New York Festival. This is the first time in the world, an animated television series across all categories, received a Gold World Medal at the New York Festivals.
