E*TRADE Financial

I wrote an email to E*TRADE Financial regarding opening an account with the for non-US residents and if we could open it without touching American soil. This was what I have read all over the internet but have not tried opening an account. That is because for every unsuccessful attempt at opening a US bank account, a black dot will mark our profile.

Hello,

Many people outside of the United States are saying that one could
open an account with e-Trade Bank without the need to go to the United States personally.

We need a US bank account to facilitate withdrawal of our Paypal funds since Paypal does not allow us to transfer to a local bank.

How does one go about opening an account with you and what account type shall that be? How much is the minimum deposit and and the procedure?

I hope that there is a webpage where I can obtain more information
regarding this issue.

Looking forward to your earliest reply.

Thank you.

So anyway, I received a reply from them which says:

Thank you for your inquiry today regarding opening a new account. I apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced. We are excited that you are considering E*TRADE Bank for your banking needs.

We currently do not offer Checking or Savings accounts to non-residents. You would need a US-issued social security number or tax ID number as well as a US address in order to open a checking or savings account.

I apologize for any inconvenience.

Ok, so this doesn't really answer my question. I wrote to them again asking what if we open a brokerage account? Let's wait for their official reply.
