Are there still people naive enough to participate in High Yield Investment Programs? I guess there will always be suckers as more and more new people have internet access.
I myself lost US$100 a few yeas ago to a scheme that I don't even remember the name of. I participated because I gave in to a friend's persistent request for me to be his downline. I said OK, he can have the commission if he wants it.
I wouldn't say US$100 is a small amount but I participated knowing full well that I am risking my money and there may not be any returns at all. True enough, not even a month after I registered myself, the company was busted as a ponzi scheme. I am not the only one who lost money, although those who have joined in the early days would have already cashed out their profits and the money that was still tied up was just a fraction of their principal.
Yes, it was painful to lose US$100, and it stung to realize that it was bad judgment on my part. Since I already set aside the money with the high possibility of never seeing a return on that amount, I was not shocked. Thankfully that did not put me in such a financial spot that I required Credit Repair!
Moreover, I never asked any of my friends or family to be my downline so I did not have to answer to them or face them regarding their losses.
You know, actually none of these ponzi schemes can survive if there is no element of greed involved on the investor's part.
