A friend asked me if he should link his credit card to Paypal or apply for a debit card for the sole purpose of linking it to Paypal and making online purchases. I advised him to apply for a debit card. I am using the debit card from Public Bank and it has served me very well so far.
Although I am an etrader myself, I have to admit that I do not fully trust ALL websites that require our credit card information. With a debit card, at least if I am billed in error, I do not suffer as big a loss if I were using a credit card.
I can also control my spending on a debit card. If I am on a tight budget, I just do not fund the debit card, but temptation would be very great if I were to use a credit card since I think have the mindset that I could repay my credit card loan next month.
Besides Public Bank's debit card, the other debit card that is proven to work with Paypal and online shopping with is AmBank's NexGen.
