A Seller's Responsibility

There was a debate on whose responsibility it is if an item that was delivered is broken or cracked.

I think that no matter what shipping mode a Buyer has selected, it is the Seller's responsibility to make sure that the package is well-packed with adequate buffering and tightly wrapped. If an item is fragile, all the more the Seller has to ensure that the item will reach the Buyer in one piece.

It really does not matter if the Buyer has opted for Registered Mail, Pos Ekspres or Poslaju, I would apply the same packaging to my outgoing packages.

On the other hand, if the item is lost during transit then the Seller has to assist the Buyer in making a claim from the post office or shipping company. However, if there is no insurance coverage, then the does not lie on the Seller. Insurance is to be bought by the Buyer but Seller must remember to give this option to the Buyer.
