I have always been interested in Social Media as a means of communication although I have never taken the trouble to understand it in depth and the power of social media. Needless to say, I did not fully utilize is as a marketer.

I agree with the writer that social media involves openness, transparency and disclosure, hence gaining the trust of the consumer. It is definitely more important to gain trust in an online community than in daily life.
People online are ever ready to engage in conversations and like I said, the internet is so vast, it can be lonely sometimes, that's why people like to be part of a community, to participate in community driven activities with people who share their same interest.
