eBay is Only a Venue

Many people do not read the User Agreement when they join auction marketplaces like eBay and Lelong. Many people always put the blame on these marketplaces when the slightest thing goes wrong.

Well, as eBay says, eBay is only a VENUE. I would say, eBay is an avenue for people to trade.

It is our sole responsibility to buy or sell items. Although eBay has the right to moderate us, we cannot expect eBay staff to be all eyes and ears of happenings around the marketplace.

The same goes for Lelong even though Lelong is a localised marketplace while eBay is global.

3.1 eBay is not an auctioneer. Although, we are commonly referred to as an online auction web site, it is important to realise that we are not a traditional auctioneer.

eBay acts as a venue which allows registered users to offer, sell, and buy just about anything, at any time, from anywhere, in a variety of formats including fixed price and auction-style.

We do not review listings provided by users and we are not involved in transactions between buyers and sellers. As a result, we have no control over the quality, safety or legality of the items advertised, the truth or accuracy of the listings, the ability of sellers to sell items or the ability of buyers to buy items.

DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE OFFER, SALE, PURCHASE, EXPORT OR IMPORT OF ANY ITEM IS VALID AND LEGAL SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS LISTED ON OUR WEBSITE. We are not responsible for ensuring that buyers and sellers actually complete a transaction.

YOU ACCEPT SOLE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE LEGALITY OF YOUR ACTIONS UNDER LAWS APPLYING TO YOU.

With that... you should only buy from reputable sellers.
Ask the necessary questions you need to know about the item.
Ask about the shipping and payment details.
Asking questions should be done BEFORE bidding on the item to avoid misunderstandings.
