Did you read the news article recently that Malaysians have no financial security? Well, I am not surprised, actually. I mean, look at the average pay a person receives versus the cost of living and most people do not have anything left to save by the end of the month.
Not only do we not have financial security, it is not compulsory for people to get insurance coverage and hence, should anything unfortunate happen, we would have to take out whatever meager savings we managed to put aside.
No doubt there's the EPF but my friend told me that he could manage better than EPF and if he has a choice, he would rather not subscribe to it. I have to agree with him. EPF hasn't been performing too well and they are supposed to be the guardian of our nest egg for old age.
Well, I think what we should do to improve our financial security is to DEMAND for higher pay and the abolishment of road tax, toll fees, income tax, quit rent and all sorts of utility charges. How about that?
