On Wednesday, 15th August, 2007, eBay gave sellers on their USA and Canada sites a free-listing day. Well, that is good news but was it offered because eBay knows that their members have been disenchanted recently?
From what I read on the forums, many people have quit eBaying because trading on eBay is no longer as lucrative as it once was. Moreover, Nigerian Scam 419 has totally invaded eBay and that is making life doubly hard for the Seller. I read that some people on the other hand, are unhappy with the increased fees as and when eBay likes to which effectively throws the Seller's profit margin down the drain.
While it is good to appease members' anger with something like a free-list day, will it solve the long term problem? I don't think so. It may take people's mind off the underlying problem because these Sellers would be too busy listing as many items as they could but the problems should be address at the root like steep fees, over protection for Buyers and scam.
