If you are a member of both Lelong and eBay, you would know that both have vastly different ways in handling scammers. For one, eBay does not allow other members or victims to mention the user ID, names and other personal particulars of scammers.
On the other hand, although Lelong also does not allow members to mention names of fraudsters, they do compile and official list of fraudsters with personal particulars like name, location, bank account details and other helpful information where available.
So this has for mew thinking. eBay would like to settle the matter behind the scenes but meanwhile, a lot more people would have been victims of fraud. Lelong, on the other hand, discloses such information in the hopes that members would be aware of these people and would not be victims. Of course, these people could use a different bank account number but it gives us awareness and it is a good habit to run the name and/or account number through the list for any big amount auction or purchase.
I understand that eBay has to protect the private information of scammers even if they did scam other members because they have to abide to American law, but it does not help when more and more people get trapped while investigation is under progress.
So which do you think is better?
