Brand Identity

The other day, I wrote a post on branding and my observation that some people are changing their trading ID to reflect their niche products. This was also one of the tips given by a so-called guru. I agree that with a user ID that reflects our products, we would appear more easily on searches made by potential customers. However, do we want to forever be known as our product just like how we stop the bread man by calling out "BREAD!!!"? Hence, we don't even need to know his name and he will forever be known as "Bread" to us even though he also sells other things.

I believe that in order for us to survive independently out of the auction marketplaces, we need to create and establish a unique branding.

From the many branding websites that I visited like http://www.brandidentityguru.com, we must first identify our strengths and evaluate our brand. When it comes down to this, of course we require the help of branding and marketing professionals like Brand Identity Guru.

Therefore, I think that we have to look at the bigger picture. It is not a good idea to change your ID to reflect your niche product if you want to expand your business beyond the auction platforms. What do you think?
