Just a month ago, someone bought a virtual private server that contained very sensitive financial data of bank customers off eBay. The buyer was responsible enough to not abuse the data, luckily.
If we thought that that was the end of someone's foolish deed, news have emerged that a guy bought a used camera on eBay, which turned out to be a spy camera. He went on vacation, came back and after downloading his vacation photos, found photos in the memory card that he could not remember shooting.
This guy reported to the police, who thought that it was a joke. But then when the British Secret Intelligence Service (also known as MI6) was told of this, they went to his home and confiscated the camera plus his personal computer. However, he was compensated with cash.
Sometimes, it's great to shop on eBay because there are plenty of gem around being put up by people who do not realize the value of the items that they are selling.
