PayPal Policy Update Effective 5th November, 2008

If you are a PayPal user, you may want to check out this amendment to the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy which comes into effect this 5th November, 2008. The amendment is in Section 5 of the current Acceptable Use Policy regarding prohibited activities on PayPal. You may not use PayPal for the following activities that involve:

"gambling, gaming and/or any other activity with an entry fee and a prize, including, but not limited to casino games, sports betting, horse or greyhound racing, lottery tickets, other ventures that facilitate gambling, games of skill (whether or not it is legally defined as a lottery) and sweepstakes unless the operator has obtained prior approval from PayPal and the operator and customers are located exclusively in jurisdictions where such activities are permitted by law."

You probably know that online gaming is illegal in the United States and PayPal is an American company, so there's Federal law to be adhered to. In view of this new amendment, I figure that it is also against PayPal’s acceptable use policy if one were to use his credit card to pay for such services if payment were made through PayPal.
