Punsri Abeywickrema, a computer science graduate at UW-Superior in 2000, has come out tops in PayPal's X Developer Challenge, a global competition that was aimed at discovering the best online start up company.
Punsri's online company, Rentalic.com is a website that allows people to rent equipment and tools that are put up on the site by owners who hardly use them themselves and would like to get some rental off their items. Better than letting them sit idle in the garage, I think.
This idea is the best out of 660, according to PayPal judges but I wouldn't say that the other ideas aren't good and it is interesting to note that Punsri worked with PayPal before. Well, like all competitions, there can only be one winner and so Punsri walks away with US$50,000 cash and US$50,000 in waived PayPal fees. Congratulations!
