The small boat that the teenage criminal dubbed the "Barefoot Bandit" because he was said to be shoeless in some of the crimes he carried out in the United States, has been put up on eBay by its owner. The owner, William Sport, said that even if he could get a price of US$80,000 for it, he would still be losing money. He has been quoted a repair bill of US$30,000 - US$50,000 so anyone buying it should expect to fork out this extra on top of the purchase price.
It's a little surprising that a 19-year-old could create so much trouble with his thefts and yet, based on his Facebook fan page, could garner quite a fan base. Perhaps these people who idolise petty criminals like the Barefoot Bandit would come up with the money to buy the boat and then make a profit from ticket collections for people to view it or rent it to a movie production house or something. Whatever it is, surely someone would think of something to profit from it even though the Barefoot Bandit has not achieved legendary status.
