FIFA World Cup 2010 Final Ball Sold For £48K For Charity On eBay

The football that was used in the FIFA World Cup 2010 final match between the Netherlands and Spain which saw Spain's 1-0 victory, was auction off on eBay and fetched just over £48,000 or US$74,000.

The Jabulani ball, named "Jo'bulani" because the final game was played in Johannesburg, South Africa, which locals call Jo'burg, was sold for the '46664' HIV/AIDS charity, a charity named after Nelson Mandela's prisoner number when he was held at Robben Island for 18 of his 27 years in prison.

Some people will say that US$74,000 is too much to pay for just a ball, albeit a ball that Spain made history with as it was their first ever World Cup victory but then when you think about it, some people have even donated more money towards charity without any keepsakes. In this case, as least the donor has a ball to keep. It would be more meaningful if the buyer is a Spaniard.
