PayPal has collaborated with comGateway to offer better international shopping for Asians where shoppers will be provided with a US mailing address for shipping, and the packages will then be redirected to our local address. This will certainly help us shop at stores that do not ship internationally. Payment is by credit card or PayPal and those who use PayPal will enjoy further discounts.
I have browsed through the list of merchants participating in this Hop Shop Go portal and all of them offer additional discount for purchases above a certain amount and/or free shipping. I didn't compare the price difference between shopping at these online stores directly and via Hop Shop Go but I figure that if the prices are not competitive enough, they will not survive.
One thing that would certainly help shoppers is the price conversion to local currency which is not available right now. It's rather confusing to keep calculating how much an item is in my own currency. I know that one shouldn't do that when shopping outside of the country but then that's the only way to see if something is worth buying. We must always bear in mind to keep within budget, anyway.
