The US$9K Motorcycle That Never Arrived

I read an article about a woman who bought a motorcycle for US$9,000 through an online advertisement. Although she did not deal through a marketplace like eBay, she made payment through PayPal or what looked like PayPal to her. According to the article, not only did the motorcycle not delivered, the buyer later found out that the same motorcycle has been advertised again. Imagine the shock!

Readers of the article said that the advertisement was published in a few metro classifieds before the woman paid for it. While that is not wrong to try to spread the word about the sale of a big item like a motorcycle, readers also say that the motorcycle is worth a whole lot more than US$9K and that alone should raise the red flag.

To me, even though I am an online seller and encourage people to shop more online, I never agree with purchasing a big ticket item without dealing face to face and that also, not one to one. Seriously, I do want to look at the good side of people but we can never be too certain, especially when it involves money.
