Olympian Auctions Spot On His Shoulder

Nick Symmonds, 4-time US outdoor champion in the 800 metres, has successfully auctioned off a spot on his shoulder and will, for one year, wear a temporary tattoo of the winner bidder, Hanson Dodge Creative, a marketing company who won the spot for a rice of $11,100.

Nick didn't put up his shoulder on auction for the money but to make a point to regulating bodies to lift sponsorship limitations. Right now, because of exclusivity rights, some meets have very strict rules about logos worn on the apparel and shoes of sportsmen and women.

Nick hopes that changes will come to track and field so that they can seek sponsorships more freely.
