Authorities have warned that scammers are making calls to their victims trying to gain their personal details and we have been reminded not to disclose any of our particulars, especially our credit card details over the phone, even if the telephone number is the same as banks and other financial institutions.
According to the report, these scammers are getting more and more tricky and now, don't know what caller ID system they are using, but their phone numbers will be displayed on our phone as that of phone numbers that we are familiar with, or have even entered into our phone book.
With this trick, many people would presume wrongly that the phone call is legitimate and they wouldn't think twice about disclosing their personal details and even credit card numbers, especially the three security numbers at the back of the card, over the phone since they think that it was a call from the bank.
Anyway, banks are not supposed to call us on the phone for such information or even send us email. When in doubt, always call the bank using a listed number on their REAL website.
