Happy New Year

New Year is the perfect time to remember those who are a special part of our lives and have a special place in our hearts.

Cyberpartygal's WebStore wishes you a very Prosperous & Happy New Year 2006.

May the New Year bring you lots of good cheer, health and vast improvement in every aspect of your life!

A Day of Reflection

2005 is drawing to a close. The last day of the year is always a day of reflection on the things that have transpired throughout the year.

It's the time to store the good moments in our hearts and minds to be cherished forever, whilst hoping that the not-so-good episodes have been lessons well-learnt.

It's a time to give thought to the people who have crossed our path, some of whom have become close friends indeed.

Cyberpartygal's WebStore would like to take this opportunity to thank all friends for their support and understanding through the year. YOU made it all worthwhile.

Thank you so much!

Fighting More Joybidders

As mentioned earlier, it could only be one or two very, very free people, with multiple IDs playing around, messing with other people's auctions.

Well, the only way to fight them is to cancel the bids and blocking them from further bidding.

Also, it's never a good idea to utilise the "Buy it Now" feature as it leaves the seller no time to check on the bidder, and to take appropriate actions, if deemed necessary.

For the month of December, 2005 alone, about 50 bids have been cancelled and IF a genuine bid has been cancelled, then very sorry lah! Please go and earn your feedback elsewhere first.

Joybidders have GOOD Taste

One thing that we noticed is, joybidders do have good taste. They won't just bid on any old thing, but bid on the "best". And through experience, these items will soon be bought by genuine buyers.

So, BRING THEM ON!

More & More Joybidders

Don't know what the World of Auction has come to.... we're now facing another army of Joybidders... what a pain in the a** ...This time, we're just cancelling all these jokers' bids, without waiting for the auctions to end.

Let's not waste each other's time.

Shortcut to Product Search

It's never easy to search through a whole WebStore with over a hundred active products.

The trick is to search by keywords.

Click on Advanced Search link which can be found on the left panel of every page.

It will open up this page:
Type in your keywords and remember to tick the boxes:
** Search In Product Descriptions &
** Include Subcategories

This way, your search results will be more comprehensive than direct search through QUICK FIND.

Happy Browsing! :-)

Getting on the Wrong Side of Paypal

At fist, a Paypal.com account may seem like the best thing in the world since sliced bread, BUT if you ever encounter any problem with your Paypal.com account, sad to say, you will be walking alone, baby.

In a recent case where, on personal experience, my debit card number was barred from the Paypal system for some reason, I e-mailed their Customer Service twice through their webform, without getting a reply.

The reply only came more than 24 hours later (this happened on a weekday where I expect a swifter response) and this was their reply (it was a standard form letter BAH!):

"Due to an increase in seasonal email volumes, we may not have been able to answer your email.

If your inquiry has not been resolved or you have further questions regarding your PayPal account please call 1-402-938-3570.

Thank you for choosing PayPal!

Please do not reply to this e-mail. Mail sent to this address will not be answered."

Is that a joke, or what?

I wonder why Paypal.com asks customers to call/fax to their USA numbers, knowing full well that they have an international customer base.

Making interstate calls is bad enough, but to make an international call to them, and being put on hold for long minutes before being put through to the correct department and the personnel in-charge of your specific problem, like all big corporations, is a killer to the pocket.

One would think that in this age of advanced electronic technology, communication through e-mail is more than sufficient in a business of this nature, but it doesn't look like it. Too bad!

Perhaps, all Paypal.com account holders should petition for the company to accept "reversed charge calls" (in American term, it's "call collect") hahaha

One thing I always do is to just deposit enough funds into my Paypal.com account whenever there is a need to make a payment.

Similarly, I'll just transfer out the funds to a savings acocunt once payment is received.

Paypal.com is known to freeze an account on the slightest suspicion of fraudulant use (or misuse) of the account.

Freeze first, talk later!

Solution for Credit Card Verification

Not everyone carries a credit card, nor is eligible for one. The solution for credit card verification as required by eBay.com or Paypal.com is to apply for a debit card.

There are many debit cards available in the market today. The only debit card tried, tested & proven to work with both
eBay.com AND Paypal.com is the PB VISA ELECTRON offered by Public Bank Berhad.

Requirements for this card is very basic. The applicant needs to be at least 18 years old. First year subscription is FREE while subsequent renewals is MYR24 per annum.

PB VISA ELECTRON's Cash MegaBonus rewards each time you spend! You'll enjoy a Cash MegaBonus of 0.5% for every Ringgit charged to the Card. This is definitely better than getting loyalty points! The downside is, this reward will only be credited into your account after every 12 months!

Topping up is so easy. There are four options:
** Send a cheque to Public Bank Headquaryters in Kuala Lumpur
** Online transfer if you have a Public Bank savings account
** Transfer via ATM if you have a Public Bank savings account
** Deposit cash over the counter

Advantages:

  • Can shop online ***Hurray!***
  • Can budget spending
  • If card is lost, cash is protected as the required balance at any time is MYR25.

Disadvantages:

  • No "soft loan" from the bank hahaha
  • Card needs to have available funds before using!

Receiving International Payment

Will Paypal ever collaborate with a local Malaysian bank to facilitate withdrawal of funds into local bank accounts?

For now, many local sellers are facing the problem of receiving payment from buyers outside of Malaysia and even if they are able to accept payment via Paypal, they have no avenue to withdraw it, unless they have a foreign bank account, or sell it off at a lower-than-market currency exchange rate.

Of couse, there are other payment platforms similar to Paypal, where only an e-mail address is needed to transfer funds, but their service charge and other fees are so much higher that it's not feasible to use at all.

I guess there's nothing much we can do about it but find the best individual solution in our quest to embark on international selling.

Where Valentine's Day Comes Early

Cyberpartygal's WebStore is the only Store where Valentine's Day comes early.

In addition to listing new items in conjuction with Christmas Day, Cyberpartygal has decided it's just as good a time to list the lovey dovey items.

This is to avoid delay in shipping due to all the upcoming holidays and non-postal working days as listed below:

11th Dec, 05 - Sultan of Selangor's birthday (falls on Sunday, holiday is substituted on 12th Dec, 05)
25th Dec, 05 - Christmas Day (falls on Sunday, holiday is substituted on 26th Dec, 05)
1st Jan, 06 - New Year's Day (falls on Sunday, holiday is substituted on 2nd Jan, 06)
7th Jan, 06 - First Saturday of the month - Non-postal working day
10th Jan, 06 - Hari Raya Haji
29th Jan, 06 - 1st day of Chinese New Year
30th Jan, 06 - 2nd day of Chinese New Year
31st Jan, 06 - Awal Muharram
1st Feb, 06 - Federal Territory Day
7th Feb, 06 - First Saturday of the month - Non-postal working day
11th Feb, 06 - Thaipusam

14th Feb, 06 - VALENTINE'S DAY!

P/S: Please note that holidays listed above may be inaccurate!

Hot Picks!

Who decides what goes into Hot Picks!? Well, I don't. Browsers of Cyberpartygal's WebStore determine this, as can be seen from this screen shot.

P/S: New Arrivals are not included in Hot Picks!

Invasion of Joybidders

Anyone who has sold anything on auction sites before will know the annoyance that joybidders bring.

Within two days, I have encountered FOUR joybidders on eBay. Well, to be specific, it's FOUR different IDs but could most probably be ONE person only. ONE VERY, VERY free person who has nothing better to do than to mess with other people's affairs.

So far, these four IDs have "won" almost MYR500 worth of my poducts, and it's annoying when I have to reserve the items for them for at least three days knowing that they bidded without the intention of closing the deals. GGGrrr

Also, there are cases where these joybid jokers will leave the seller a negative feedback as soon as auction ended, when they themselves only bidded for fun in the first place.

eBay Malaysia currently doesn't offer much protection to both buyers and sellers, and when they do, I bet they'll start charging listing fees! BAH!

Free Advertisement

Some of the challenges of selling a product online is to project good images, writing accurate descriptions and also to garner as many page views as possible.

Getting browsers is not that difficult with selling in auction platforms like
eBay & Lelong but having a stand-alone store like Cyberpartygal's WebStore, bringing in visitors is a major problem, especially with just using free advertising. One can only advertise so much for free ... sigh...

Therefore, with this blog, I can write as much or as little as I like about my WebStore :-)

However, I do not plan to advertise this URL to my friends so if you came across this blog by chance, do drop me a line to show me there is someone out there reading this!

5-Day Annual Leave

Well, the ancient AMD K6-2 450Mhz computer finally died on me last week after 6+ years. I've been told that I've got my money's worth as motherboards do not last that long nowadays!

So now I'm on a Pentium 4 1.6Ghz computer.

This computer is so much faster than the dead one. I'm now more productive, can finish my work faster, have more time to do more things and hence, the birth of this blog.

Hopefully, I do not have to sacrifice more sleep to keep this blog alive and active!

The weird thing was that while my computer was out for five days, there wasn't a single e-mail enquiry on my lingerie! After it was up & running again, sales were back!

It was as if the world knows that Cyberpartygal is offline and decided to give her a 5-day annual leave :-)

Virgin Post

So, Cyberpartygal finally has her own blog! *YaY*

I don't know why I finally decided to register for one & actually start blogging .... maybe I was too bored and have too much time on my hands. When I have too much free time, it means business is bad. Oh my :-(

One of my biggest concerns previously for not starting a blog was the fear of not having enough content to blog on.

Right now, there are so many things in my head that I would like to blog on but I don't have enough time.

I guess I will have to learn better time management instead of cutting down on sleep!
