Building Back Links

There still aren't that many people linking to my blog and webstore so once again I read up on how to build back links.

According to this article, we are not to buy links from link farms, spam sites or link brokers as these links carry little or no weight in the search engines and may even get our site blacklisted. Also, never pay for back links because once we do not pay, the links will be taken off and that will cause a sharp drop in our ranking.

What we should do, however, is be smart to pick our anchor text of the link. The title of the page that links to us will also be taken into account. The more similar keyword or anchor text that links to our site, the higher it will appear in search engines.

The way to go about getting more back links is though directory submissions, getting friends and family or asking our vendors and partners to link to us.

We can also try link baiting by writing about another company or website in hopes of getting reciprocal links. And we can also use a company like Blogitive and post an opportunity to their pool of bloggers to write about us.

It will be a bonus if the press can link to us as well.
