The MerchantOS Website

I came across the website for MerchantOS, the maker of web-based software for the point of sale for small businesses. I am not going to review the product because I do not own a retail business, only an online business.

However, I would like to point out, using the website of MerchantOS as an example, what every business should emulate. The homepage of MerchantOS is neat and uncluttered and the font size is large enough without straining the eyes. It explains straight to the point what the company sells and why a business would need their product. This is very important because some business owners, perhaps they are new in the field, may not realise what such a product can do to enhance their set up, management and sales of their business.

Testimonials from satisfied customers are also great to display upfront. This will boost the confidence of prospective clients.

What I like about MerchantOS, though, it the availability of a
blog and a support forum. Existing customers will benefit greatly from the blog for the latest industry news while receiving crucial technical support on the forum, from the company or from fellow MerchantOS software users. Technical support is very important because we cannot expect every customer to be technical minded.

A demo tour of the software is great as it allows people a chance to see what the software can do. It definitely will improve sales for MerchantOS. The carrot is of course, the free first month of subscription.

I generally like the site although, the box that says:

Compatible with you - Windows XP, Mac OS X, Linux, and Vista.

Well, it would be more appropriate to say: "Compatible with all major operating systems".
