I read with sadness that there are still people as gullible as this college student. She is already twenty years old and yet, it only takes a phone call to convince her to transfer money to the fraudster.
The newspapers have always highlighted incidences where people were cheated of money in internet or phone scams and worse, Nigerian 419 scams. Don't people read?
Granted, not everyone who lost money will make a police report so the actual number victims is of course much higher than our official statistics but there are still people who made public their story so that other people will not fall victim to a similar modus operandi.
The bottom line is to think a thousand times if you are informed of winning any contest or lucky draw. Do not be greedy and your money will be safe with you. If a deal is too good to be true, it probably is.
