This morning, I received an email from a company saying that they have listed seven of my products on their product directory for free. I don't like that because I did not give them consent to list MY items. I would rather prefer to list my own items in a directory that I am comfortable with.
Coincidentally, my friend recommended to me a Local business directory that is rather comprehensive and spans across the United States. This is the type of directory that I would rather list my products in. I could very well list my items in the sub-directory of Women's Clothing under Apparel And Accessory Stores.
To be listed on a far reaching directory like @List.org, businesses like mine could gain the added online exposure and extend our customer reach. On the other hand, consumers would be able to locate businesses that are in their neighborhood and read up on company information, reviews and other write up given by fellow consumers.
All these will help consumers make more informed choices on where and whom they want to do business with. I feel that such directories create a win-win situation for both consumers and businesses.
