Virtual Ground For Landlords and Renters

Anybody who owns property that they rent out would have a couple of horror stories to tell. I know of cases where the tenant refused to pay rental and harass the landlady by calling her up in the middle of the night, and then there was a case where the tenant has this sickness of collecting rubbish and treated the rented house like a huge rubbish dump.

Actually, there are a host of other stories that really puts ff the idea of renting out our precious property. But then there is a website like Rentals.com which seres as an online meeting ground for both rental owners and potential tenants.

Surfing through the site is really easy. To start, just select a state by clicking on the large map to America. Renters could search for family homes to rent or vacation homes and there are various themes to select from, like gold, mountain, beach, family, wedding and pet friendly. I love it that all these are displayed with a huge clickable graphic. I wouldn't want to waste time reading all the fine text on the side bar.

As for landlords, they have to pay a little money to list their rentals on Rentals.com. There are three packages; Standard ($39), Featured ($59) and Premier ($99). These are monthly rates and even the Standard package comes with a wealth of features except that the ad listing is less prominent!

I love it that landlords are allowed to upload an unlimited number of images and there are virtual tours provided for the property as well as the integration of Google maps and directions. Each property listing has its own unique URL so the landlord could also email potential rentals this URL to view the images or take a virtual tour.

In short, I think Rentals.com has managed to achieve what it has set out to do - to cut down on the middleman and allow landlords and renters to deal directly.
