The other day, a company contacted me touting their product. I do like the product and even though I could use it, it is so expensive that I am unable to afford it. Since it is something that I know many people would like to have I told the person who contacted me that I will give the company a mention on my blog, for free. He obviously knows that I blog for pay.
Anyway, I wrote and published my post and emailed him the URL but the person read my post, sent the URL to other company staff to read it BUT did not have the decency to reply to my email or acknowledge my post in any way.
To say I am pissed off is an understatement. It is not the money. I said I would do it for free and I did. The thing is, there was no appreciation at all.
Another time, I was approached by a girl to write a post on an organization. She said that it is for charity and that the organization, a non-profit set up, needs all the buzzes it could get. So I said OK, since my heart goes weak in the name of charity.
To cut the story short, I posted my article and sent the URL to her. She read it and people from the organization came to read it as well BUT nobody acknowledged my post, not especially her, when all she had to do was REPLY to my email.
She subsequently joined Blogathon 2007 and sent out a mail to me appealing for donations and buzzes. No way am I going to do these for her ANYMORE. Why should I be taken advantage of when I could always support the Salvation Army of my hometown?
So, from now onwards, I am not going to give any free buzzes when these people do not know how to appreciate the effort that I put into every post and for free too. If you want a buzz then you jolly well pay for it.

Ooooh, me too! I get an email at least once a week-"Hi, I came across your blog and I really like it. I represent a company that sells basketball tickets for games in New York. We think your blog would be a great way for us to advertise our site. Please look at our site and write why you like it."
Um, NO, you blockhead. I have never written about any sports, and I live in Michigan! AND, I am a professional! You want to hire me? Click that PPP Direct badge over there! I did get a cool free journal from a website by replying to the email and saying I would write about the product if he sent it to me first, and he did. Not giving it away over here :)
Hi Elizabeth!
Thanks for coming by.
It's not the payment, you know? It's that they do not have the decency to even say "Hey, thanks for the mention."
I get a lot of email enquiries asking me about stuff (non business) which I reply and teach and advise BUT after receiving my email, I never hear from them at all. Not even an acknowledgment or thanks.
I find that utterly RUDE!
