The other night, I was chatting with my friend about mobile Instant Messengers, comparing notes on the programmes that we are using and the ones that we tried but discarded. While I am all for using free programs, I was surprised that my friend is paying subscription for hers.
She said that she is paying $11.95 every three months. That's in US Dollars. While paying approximately US$4 per month seems cheap if you are earning US Dollars, it is still expensive to me when there are free programmes around.
My friend says that she has used other free programmes before but went back to this premium programme because she prefers the interface of this programme and its user-friendliness.
You see, if you have a great product on hand, people will willingly pay to use it but if you have a programme that is not top of the line, even if it is free, a handful of people will not want to use it. The program that she told me is free, I tried it out and did not like it too. Free stuff won't always buy the hearts of users.
