Some of you may remember that I have a friend who runs his own office in New York City. He tells me that it’s crazy working there because of the ultra fast pace. That’s why he would rather live away from the City! Paul also takes any opportunity to for a short getaway. There are times when he tells me that he is going off for a meeting and I have to wonder why he does not hold it in his own office. It’s large enough as it is!
However, as an architect-cum-contractor, he needs to canvas for projects and he would rather do this in a relaxed manner, both parties not only solely talking about business but also get to know each other better and gain each other’s trust. Paul has found this pretty effective and they become his returning clients.
Sometimes when a business deal is on the line, however important it is, it would be better to hold it in one of the New York conference rooms away from each other’s “territory”. Sometimes, a round of golf or a spa session is in order too.
