The other day, when I wrote about this guy who sold his car on eBay but failed to deliver it, I said that at least he sold something that he actually owned. Today, this case came to light where a man, Steve Volley, sold non-existent Take That concert tickets on eBay last December to 270 Take That fans who paid from GBP100 to GBP260 for the tickets.
Concert and sports tickets are hugely in demand on eBay. Fans willingly pay up to three or four times the actual ticket price just to see their idols. Free Bon Jovi Central Park concert tickets were even sold at more than US$1000 per pair.
In this case, the concert in question was for Take That's Manchester's MEN Arena concert which was part of the group's comeback album tour sans Robbie Williams. Steve Volley cashed in on the occasion and "sold" the tickets even though he does not have any!
Although he now promises to return the money in full to all 270 buyers, some of them are so pissed off that they have initiated legal proceedings. Well, that's going to be a costly lesson to the fraudster, then!
