29-year-old Mark McLintock has been sentenced to a year of jail term for selling counterfeit Nike sports shoes on eBay. Shoes which retail at £120 on the High Street were only sold at £15 on eBay. I believe the buyers do know that they are not buying genuine Nike shoes. How can they not know when the price difference is so huge?
Undercover officials received a tip off about McLintock’s activities and pretended to be interested in a lot buy. McLintock showed them his warehouse of counterfeit 2444 pairs of Nike trainers which would be valued at £300,000 street value if they had been genuine Nike. McLintock used £10,000 to buy his stocks, a loan from his mother.
Not only has McLintock violated eBay policy by selling counterfeit goods and since the case with the European lifestyle brand and fashion house, they have become more vigilant in stopping counterfeit activities on their marketplace, Nike also plans to sue McLintock for compensation for loss of sales and profit because of his activities on eBay.

Scary... Next time don't sell fake stuff in ebay already.
That is terrible. How about those who buy? Will they be jailed also?
Hi Molly,
I think that those who bought counterfeit items would be let off because there would simply be too many people to charge but I think that buying counterfeit items is abetting a crime.
