Amazon Stops Paying Affiliates For Paid Search Traffic

If you are an Amazon affiliate, you may want to pay attention to this. Beginning 1st May, 2009, Amazon, like eBay two years ago, will no longer pay affiliates for sale concluded from paid search traffic. This means that you can stop buying paid search listings from sites like Google, Yahoo and MSN since Amazon will no longer pay you.

Well, I don't know what eBay and Amazon think. Don't people who came from paid search buy things too? In fact, I think there is a better chance of making a sale from such group of internet users.

In any case, I know that it will affect the income of a lot of Amazon affiliates just like what happened to eBay affiliates two years ago. Luckily, this will not affect too many Malaysians because as far as I know, there are not that many affiliates here because these two programmes are not open to us, unless we have a US address.

Besides affecting affiliates, this move will also probably affect merchants who are participating in Amazon affiliate programme. I think their sales will drop too because there will no longer be people advertising for them via paid search engines!
