I received the following email from "Maybank2U" with the subject header "Important Notice" yesterday morning. It is a phishing email that was sent to my junk email account and made to frighten me to click on the links provided in the email, thinking that there is something wrong with my Maybank2U account. Of course, when I receive something like this, I do not take chances and still would log into my internet banking account directly from my browser just to check if everything is in order. Sure enough, nothing was wrong.
Hovering my cursor over the links, I could see that they are not the real URL of Maybank2U; surely not. Also, note that the email address that this email was sent from was maybank2u@may2.com.
Besides, as far as I know, Maybank or any other local bank does not email their customers, especially not asking them to click on links or provide banking or personal details over email or through the phone.
