Using An Escrow Service

A friend was wondering how we can trade online for big ticket items if we are so scared of being scammed. Don' get me wrong. Scams can happen both ways and it is not only the buyers who should be afraid of parting with their money and not receive the goods, just like the US$9K motorcycle that was never delivered. Sellers could also be victims, and there have been cases where sellers parted with their goods and then had a payment chargeback forced upon them.

To me, the best solution for an online trade that provides peace of mind to both parties is using an escrow service. Sure, this is a paid service and usually, the fee is borne by the party that suggests it but it is well worth paying a legit escrow company this small fee so that both parties will get the deal across smoothly.

Sometimes, dealing online needs more that just trust or good faith. For expensive items, even with these two, we still need to take steps to ensure that nobody is cheated of cash or goods.
