Debt Discount

A friend who works for a Debt Collection agency told me that after a few days not chasing for repayment, which he felt very relived, it's time to start work all over again on Monday. He told me that he doesn't like being too forceful because he knows that most debtors are probably not paying up because they are unable to do so, and not that they don't want to do so.

According to my friend, his company is willing to negotiate with debtors to make repayments in flexible installments and just to close these accounts, is willing to offer steep discounts for debtors who pay up in one lump sum.

Even with these very lenient terms, most debtors are unable to accept them. The economy is really this bad, huh? My friend told me that companies that need help in managing accounts receivables go to them as a last resort simply because they don’t want to jeopardize their business relationship with their debtors.

However, chasing for repayment could drag on for months or even years and it simply takes up too much time, energy and resources that could be used on more productive work and other aspects of running the business.

Well, sometimes diplomatic intervention by a third party is the best option to take.
