Unit Kad Kredit Palsu

Last month, Bank Negara Malaysia issued an warning to the public after being alerted that there are scammers calling up people pretending to be from a department called Unit Kad Kredit Palsu of Bank Negara or a commercial bank and trying to coax sensitive information from the public.

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) would like to stress that there is no such department in their set up and that the telephone number 03-2772-XXXX is not one of their telephone lines.

While the modus operandi used by such scammers from "Unit Kad Kredit Palsu" is to get victims to transfer their funds to a third party account purportedly to "safeguard" it, if you have read the news recently, there was a credit card fraud victim who claimed that his credit card details was stolen after he disclosed his mother's maiden name over the telephone. See, that's not even safe!
