Career In The Beauty Field

When my friend told me that her sister is planning to take up cosmetology, I thought that it was a very appropriate career for her. However, my friend and her parents are worried that she would have trouble looking for a job in the beauty field. Actually, cosmetology is getting more popular among young men and women and in fact, students who graduate from reputable cosmetology schools are highly sought after.

I have been checking out cosmetology schools in Wichita for another friend and am impressed by the credentials of tutors. I believe that graduates from these schools would have no problems making a name of themselves in the field of beauty and cosmetology.

Long National Day Break

If you are planning to make purchases online, do know that it's the long weekend holiday right now due to National Day celebrations. So if you need something delivered fast, sorry, courier offices are closed today.

However, for many of us who run an online store or offer a web based service, business is as usual. We continue to work, answer queries and keep promoting our products. This can not stop. And we continue to receive payment for sales except that orders are not shipped. Yet.

Although many people say that the economy is sluggish, it's actually because of this that more people are flocking to shop online where they would be able to get shopping deals but then when shipping charges continue to rise, any savings would be wiped out unless shipping is absorbed by retailers.

In Love With Sony Vaio X

I know I promised myself not to look at another notebook after purchasing my Fujitsu slightly more than two years ago. I have to say that I am totally satisfied with its performance and after so many years and changes in technology, it is still performing at par with newer notebooks.

However, since the beginning of this year, I have been traveling. A LOT. Whilst 2kg of weight on my back is not too heavy, the weight is felt when I have to carry it for hours at a stretch. As you know, being self-employed, I cannot afford not to have access to the internet, even when I am on the road. My friend commented that at this rate, I'll be hunched back soon.

I went looking at light notebooks and found the right one in Sony VAIO X. It's light and yet fast. And although Sony devices and appliances are slightly more expensive, I don't mind paying more for an established brand name with proven quality.

Enjoying Time Flexibility

My friends tell me they are envious that I stay home the whole day without having to endure the painful traffic jams commuting to and from work. Of course, they think that working from home is easy but one thing that I am sure we all enjoy, whether full time employed or self-employed is the time flexibility.

My friends who are employed tell me that there are some days that they just don't feel like going in to work; especially when they know that there is a traffic jam because of road closure, road repairs or some other major event.

For people who work from home, we can start our work day at any time that we are comfortable with. However, one thing that many employed people do not realise is the amount of discipline that one should have and the tremendously long hours for those trying to establish themselves.

Obviously, we all are looking for an automated income generator but no, that's not happening to most of us honest workers.

Joint Investment

A friend has been asking if I would like to join him in buying gold bullion. He thinks that if we could pool our finances, we could buy more, hence make more. As you know, the price of gold is high now, though it still has room to go even higher, and he would like to make the best of the opportunity.

However, even if what he says is true, I don't think I'll be comfortable to go into partnership with him because of past experiences with this same friend. Even so, he has given me a good idea and I definitely plan to pursue it. ALONE.

I may not have a lot of cash to spare in gold investment but I don't mind earning less than being involved in a one-sided partnership and end up getting all stressed over circumstances that I am caught in.

Credit Card Scam On Rise In Roppongi, Japan

I read with a little alarm that credit card scam targeting foreigners is on the rise in Roppongi, Japan, a district that foreigners like to patronise for its bars and restaurants. While using credit cards when travelling is most convenient, it's also very susceptible to scams, especially when one is a foreigner and just a visitor to the country for a few days. It's especially bad when one doesn't speak the language hence unable to speak up when one feels that the credit card has been compromised.

I once read that one must always have an eye on the credit card. If the credit card is taken away to be charged, there is a risk already and it has been compromised. Actually, one should have the card cancelled, but in most cases, we do not cancel the card for convenience sake but still, we have to keep a close watch on our credit card statement.

Bars and pubs are especially high risk places because one could be allegedly drunk and wouldn't remember if he had made charges on the credit card.

Quality Web Conferencing For Personal & Business Use

When the internet was first opened to the public, it totally changed the way businesses were conducted. Back then, businessmen took to the internet to communicate with their business partners and associates half way across the world by email. People marveled at how fast it was and economical than facsimile.

And then came audio and Video conference. Quality may not be very good in the beginning but now we have The Conference Group that has taken online conferencing to a whole new level. With The Conference Group, you are assured of quality audio, video or we conferencing at affordable rates. A poor quality online conference gives out a poor impression. I am sure no company wants that, right?

Although rates start from only 2.5 cents per minute for Audio conferencing without contract or a minimum commitment, and many countries enjoy toll free access to the service, The Conference Group does not compromise on quality. It's just like talking on the phone with your neighbor next door. In addition to its affordability, The Conference Group has provided customers with operator support to ensure that using its many business solutions is as hassle-free as possible.

Web conferencing is the way to do business nowadays. No longer are people restricted by time zones and geographical location. Best of all, services offered by The Conference Group is available 24/7. The internet never sleeps, anyway.

Control Spending With Debit Card

A friend was telling me how difficult it is for her to control the urge to spend, to buy. She has a couple of credit cards that she rotates based on the cut off time and is finding it difficult to pay off the full amount for both cards every bill and some times could only manage the minimum payment since she has to take care of two balances.

For people like her who cannot control their spending, having a high credit limit on their credit card is a bad thing. Credit card issuers like that, actually, and once, I was offered a charge card which doesn't have a limit at all, that I declined.

The point is not really how high your credit limit is but how well you can stay within the limit that you can afford. People like my friend would do better using a debit card instead of a credit card where she can only make purchases up to the maximum amount that she has in the debit card.

Buying Bullion For The Future

I have been thinking how to invest the little spare cash that I have without having to spend a lot of time or further capital on it. My friend suggested that I take up stock investment which he says is ideal for me because I spend a lot of time online. Well, being connected doesn't mean that I am able to pay attention to the rise and fall of stock prices, right?

Another friend told me that the best investment for me is to buy bullion because it needs the least time to take care and most importantly, I wouldn't have to invest even more money if I don't have any to spare for the time being.

I think that bullion is a good idea; at least the price of bullion is very steady and is known as the best way to preserve wealth. I remember my late grandmother buying gold every time she had saved up enough. Even though uneducated, she was very smart.

The Usefulness of Credit Cards

A friend told me that he has just discovered how useful a credit card it. At first, when he was offered a credit card by his bank without applying for it, as you know, the credit card market is so competitive now, banks offer free credit cards to their customers without solicitation, and he declined the offer. Funnily, he reapplied to the bank recently and even though he was first offered the card for free, he now has to go through all the hoops of application and approval like everyone else. And he said that he has to wait for the outcome of approval or rejection.

Anyway, while credit cards are very useful, I cannot stress enough how one has to use credit cards carefully, mindfully. I read, with alarm, that a high percentage of bankrupts in the country is in that situation because of credit card debt. The key to using credit card is to only charge the amount that you already have cash in the bank and pay the balance in full monthly so as not to incur interest which snowballs way too quickly.

Affordable Online Printing Made Easy

Running a home-based business, I print business cards, postcards and greeting cards online. My budget is small hence I prefer Online Printing. If you are looking to print online, you should check out my1stop.com, a company that would surely meet your custom printing needs easily.

What I like about my1stop.com is the ease of use. They have a range of product design templates for you to choose from so you save on paying a designer to do the job. Just select the kind of printing that you need and click to download the required file. Make sure that you choose the correct size for your printing, though.

I have ordered business cards from various online printers and have to say that my1stop.com offers one of the most competitive rates. On top of this, they offer a 5% discount for new orders by using the coupon code AGL7151. Living outside of the United States, I appreciate the discount and the fact that the company ships internationally without hassle.

If you run a business, no matter its size, you would know the importance of promoting your company with custom promotional freebies. I have attended a few business exhibitions and fairs and can say that the companies that make an impression on me are companies that gave me some kind of freebie with the company name and website address printed on it that I could check online. When you are exhibiting in a fair, you would be competing with other companies for the attention of potential customers. You would have to stand out and you can do that by giving away promotional items.

Besides printing high quality cards, if you are looking for Label Printing or printing of custom promotional products, you should look no further than my1stop.com.

Recession Depression

I recently came across this term "recession depression" which describes spot on many of the feelings and emotions that we are going through during these few years when the economy is so sluggish.

A friend told me that not only has she seen a decline in her income, she works from home, by the way, her expenses have risen almost double. With a school-going child, she is one of the many parents affected by the increase expenditure on back-to-school purchases for her kid.

I have always looked for ways to save, even before the recent recession hit. One of the things I try to do is to look for "cheap" rates. For example, I may go to the cinema to catch a movie but I only go on Ladies' Night when tickets are cheaper for ladies. Of course, if a friend treats me then it's a different story!

Anyway, this is just one example of how to save. Life has to go on, of course. We still need some pampering, some entertainment and a social life but in many cases, we can cut down on our expenses by searching for the cheaper option.

Online Austin Home Search

My sister told me that her colleague would be moving to Austin, Texas soon as the husband has accepted a promotion that requires them to relocate. She doesn't mind the move but she prefers to own her own house in Austin. Her husband agrees too and they have been going back and forth looking for homes for sale in austin. My sister told me that they are wasting time and money traveling like that when they could just shop for austin real estate online.

If I were them, I would start my austin home search online. Goldwasser Real Estate is a premier Austin Realtor with the most elite real estate agents who work closely with their clients. These agents know Austin like the back of their hands and will try their best to help search for your dream home in Austin. Just let them know your requirement and budget!

This website, which is very easy to navigate even for people who are not very savvy with the internet, is also for people who are looking at Austin real estate to invest, or even to sell.

When buying property, whether in Austin, Texas, or elsewhere, it is very important to have a reputable real estate agent to help you out as property is a huge purchase. Goldwasser Real Estate has the kind of real estate agent to serve you.

Alibaba.com Set To Acquire Auctiva

This week came a big news in the world of eCommerce. Alibaba.com, Hong Kong-based e-commerce company, has announced that they will acquire Auctiva, a developer of tools for eBay sellers with a customer base of about 170,000, for an undisclosed amount. This comes hot on the heels of Alibaba.com's acquisition of Vendio, an eCommerce service provider, in June. With this acquisition of another U.S. eCommerce entity, Alibaba.com will have a total customer base of more than 250,000 in the U.S. alone.

Alibaba.com has earlier outlined their desire to build an eCommerce global supply chain for small businesses, targetting the United States market. They have disclosed that they plan to invest US$100 million in the market to realise this plan.

As a user of both Alibaba.com and Auctiva, I have to say that I was quite taken aback by this acquisition. However, it will be interesting to see how this new development will affect us users.

Eat Healthy, Drink Healthier

No matter which part of the world you live in, I am sure you would have experienced water drought before. I remember reading about a man who was so stressed out when the water taps in his home ran dry that he died of heart failure. That incident left a deep mark on me and from that day onwards, I am very careful with the water I use and the source it came from.

The other day when I was holidaying in Singapore, I was quite taken aback with the price of bottled water. I believe it's almost as expensive as gasoline in my country! I am someone who drink a lot of water daily so you can imagine how it was for me trying to curb my thirst or I would have to pay premium for bottled water.

At home, though, I use a water filter pitcher that not only filters fluoride, hence taking away the weird taste and odor but also can successfully remove other contaminants including viruses and bacteria. I am sure you have seen before many advertisements that scream "pure" water but just because it tastes pure, it doesn't mean that its free from contaminants which are not visible to the naked eye.

The water filter pitchers that you see on the Friends of Water online store are one of the best water filter pitchers in the market and have gone through extensive tests around the world. The best thing is that these water filter pitchers are not expensive so you can actually buy a few for your home, office and one to take a long on your travels. Taking care of the food we eat is only one way to keep healthy. We should also drink healthy.

Oscar-Winning Actor Adrien Brody's Corvette ZO6 On eBay

An original Corvette ZO6 formerly owned by Oscar-winning American actor, Adrien Brody, is being put on auction on eBay right now, with 6 more days to go to the close of the auction. Right now, it has attracted three bids with the current bid at US$39,600. Reserve is not met yet but the Buy It Now (BIN) is US$46,900.

Adrien Brody, if you are unfamiliar, started acting at the age of 15 but won acclaim in his role in Roman Polanski's The Pianist in 2002 which led him to an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role. He was only 29 years old, the youngest actor to win the award.

This car is a good celebrity automobile memorabilia as it spots Adrien Brody's autograph on the engine block, which he signed when visiting the assembly plant while the car was being built.

Check out the auction on eBay at this LINK.

Emergency Road Services

As a new owner of a car, there are many responsibilities that I have taken on. I am also learning new things daily, about the car, about driving and about getting prepared in an emergency. I have to admit that although we do have a family car that I sometimes use, I never bother myself with these things. I just paid cash to my father or brother if there is anything needed to be done while they took care of the problem.

My friend advised me to subscribe to a roadside assistance plan because being female and mostly driving by myself, especially when I know nothing about cars if it breaks down or is involved in an accident, then I would really need roadside assistance.

Frankly, I did not think so far ahead but now that my friend brought it up, I really should start looking for a good plan that meets my requirements and budget.

Calling Your Bank Ahead Of An Overseas Trip

When my friend and I were planning a trip to Singapore, he asked me to make a call to my bank to let them know when I will be in Singapore, for how many days and the possibility that I may use my credit card while in Singapore. I heeded my friend's advice, since it has been a long time since I travelled out of the country and even when I went abroad back then, I used cash because I didn't have a credit card.

I told my friend that with the information that my bank has of my travel plans, they know more about my trip than even my parents do! Calling ahead to inform your credit card issuer is to avoid getting your credit card rejected in a foreign land. So yeah, if you plan to swipe your credit card abnormally than your usual pattern, whether you are going away or making a large purchase, you really should let the issuer know beforehand.

Planning A Career

I read that one of the most difficult decisions that one has to make in life is the choosing of a career path. I thought that it is because of our young age when we are about to enter college that causes the confusion because most of us do not know yet what we are seeking in life.

However, I have a friend who has just completed his compulsory military service and even though he is older than high school leavers, he is still unable to decide on a career path. He is not alone. There are some who would like to continue staying on with the Military but a lot of them leave, unprepared.

For U.S. Military personnel, one of their benefits is education. There are many online military degrees available to them and some schools offer a discount on tuition fees too, not only to those who are on active duty but also veterans.

127 SMEs On Track To £1m Turnover On eBay in 2010

eBay UK has released data that 127 companies, small and medium enterprises as well as start ups, are on track to hit £1m in sales turnover trading on eBay by the end of 2010. According to eBay, seven of these companies have only started their eBay businesses this year while eleven out of these 127 companies are increasing their turnover by more than 300% annually. This is an increase from 66 in 2009.

At a time when the economy is sluggish and a lot of businesses are forced to fold, news like this is certainly encouraging. Also, some sellers are no longer comfortable plying their trade on the eBay marketplace but as you can see, eBay is still working so well for so many businesses, be they one man shows or family enterprises or even large corporations that are seeking an online presence in a reputable marketplace with established traffic.

Planning An Early Retirement

I was quite disconcerted to read about a 75 year old woman who still had to work even at that advanced age until she was forced to retire when the company folded due to weak economy. I believe that if the company had not folded, she would still be working. My friend asked me why someone at 75 wouldn't retire. I think she couldn't because she didn't plan her retirement, or didn't plan it well, hence once her paycheck stops, her income stops.

I am someone who believes that we should make our money work for us and not the other way around. Of course, we work while we are young but once we reach the age of 60 or so, we really should stop to see what the world has to offer while we are still healthy. Otherwise, why work so hard if we are not able to reap the fruits of our labor?

I just came across an aurum advisors website that outlines the evergreen value of gold that lasts through the passages of time from one generation to another. My sister has previously told me that she is planning to keep gold in her Individual Retirement Account (IRA) but I didn't pay attention to her explanation but after reading up on IRA gold, I finally understand the importance of gold IRA, which is better than holding stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other cash-based investments.

Employees who have 401k retirement savings plan should also take a look at 401k gold options. To be frank, although I am aware that the price of gold is very steady and hardly can be influenced by external forces like the weakness of the US Dollar, war, inflation or economic meltdown as paper money would, I am taken aback that holding US$25,000 worth of limited mintage investor gold coins over a period of thirty years could turn one into a millionaire. Definitely, gold 401k is worth looking into.

I like the fact that doing a gold IRA transfer is hassle-free but to know how to go about it in-depth, you should start reading the website of Gold Coins Gain, like I did.

Unauthorized Apple iTunes Charges On PayPal

I read on the forum of Apple that quite a few people have experienced unauthorized charges on their iTunes account for music, applications and other downloads that they insist they never purchased. Apparently, these charges have been going on for the past few months already with some unlucky enough to be charged over a thousand dollars.

While scams like these really do happen especially when an online account with iTunes or PayPal is hacked, or the user ID and password are compromised in any way, then it's not surprising to be faced with surprised charges on their account.

However, there are cases where other family members have used these iTunes accounts to make purchases without the knowledge or permission of the account owner. When such owners receive an invoice, they are shocked and then make a charge back because they thought that their account had been hacked! LOL

Discount Home Lighting Fixtures

Having been looking at online stores that sell lighting fixtures, I haven't come across one that sells such a complete range of lighting designs for the entire house and at very reasonable prices too. I have actually been looking forward to change my home lighting but have procrastinated because I have not seen anything that appeals to me until a friend recommended me Echo Lighting Design Gallery and boy, am I blown away by the lighting designs that they carry.

At Echo Lighting Design Gallery, I dare say that no matter what kind of lights or design that you are looking for your home, whether it is for the living room, bedroom, kitchen or even exterior light fixtures, you can be sure to find what you like here and at a price that suits your home decorating budget as they have over 40,000 variety of products to choose from. I know how all of us are trying to get the best value for money and Echo Lighting Design Gallery sees to that, without compromising on quality.

My main concern right now is finding kitchen light fixtures that would blend in the overall of my kitchen. I have just redecorated the entire kitchen and couldn't decide what kitchen light fixtures to get. I actually like ceiling medallions because I'm a no-fuss, no-frills person but my is a very elegant lady who likes the place to look high class. She said that she's not asking for chandeliers but pendant light fixtures would look good. With the whole range of kitchen lights to choose from at Echo Lighting Design Gallery, it will take my mother and I some time to come to come to a mutual agreement!

Jesse James "Clearance" On eBay

The former husband of award winning actress, Sandra Bullock, has been going on a selling spree on eBay following their split, raking in over US$100,000 in sales from bizarre personal belongings to some of his favourite custom made bikes.

Jesse James didn't exactly say why he's clearing out his personal belongings. Perhaps, he is moving out of the family home and his new pad is smaller and cannot accommodate all his belongings or perhaps he just wants to wipe away that chapter of his life.

Whatever reasons he has, I think at least he didn't sell Sandra Bullock memorabilia or things that they both owned together, like some people would! Katie Price aka Jordan comes to mind.

CPA Careers

I have a few friends who are accountants and I feel like their work is very boring, having to face numbers daily. It would drive me crazy, I tell them.

When I came across the business of MaherDuessel Certified Public Accountants, it totally changed my perspective of an accountant's job. This is a company that serves their clients not only professionally but with a personal touch too. With a motto, Pursuing the Profession While Promoting the Public Good, I am not surprised that the firm provides Non-profit accounting and consulting services.

Graduates looking for Accounting jobs Pennsylvania should begin their search with MaherDuessel Certified Public Accountants which has a dedicated career center offering job openings and internships. In fact, Pittsburgh Business Times nominated the firm as one of "The Best Places to Work". If you and your fellow course mates are seeking CPA careers, MaherDuessel Certified Public Accountants is the top choice.

MaherDuessel Certified Public Accountants is a large regional accounting firm with a team of 70 professionals throughout Pennsylvania. This means that if you can secure a position with the firm, you will be working with the best, learning with the best.

What I especially like about MaherDuessel is the fact that they are very supportive of charitable efforts not only in services or monetary donations but also personal time and participation. Now, this is a company with a heart.

British Ex-Lawyer Expects eBay Turnover To Hit £1million

When you are into online sales, sometimes you would feel as if times are really slow and you would wonder if you are doing the right thing, if you are wasting time, or if you should change your inventory. And then there would be a sale and you would know that you are doing the right thing and there really isn't anything that you should change, except maybe be more aggressive in your business.

Today, I read about a British eBay seller who expects to hit £1million in turnover by the end of the year. It's even more inspiring to know that he gave up a £55,000-a-year job as a lawyer to go into eBay full time.

Yes, eBay may have lots of policy changes that may be disadvantageous to sellers since most of them favour buyers but then there will always be something like this happening off and on no matter where we ply our trade.

Looking For Quality Rebuilt Marine Engines

Living in a coastal town, it is not uncommon for people to own boats. While boating may be a luxury hobby that only the rich could afford, where I live, it is a means of transport, almost as common as cars.

When my friend, a boat owner in Washington, told me that there is something wrong with his Boat engine and it is no longer economically viable to repair, I told him that it's better for him to to replace the it with a rebuilt Marine engine.

U.S. Engines Inc. is a leader in rebuilt engines and ships them to the entire country swiftly and at the lowest possible cost so that people could get their boats sailing again with the shortest possible down time.

Some people may think that it's risky to purchased a rebuilt engine but the team behind U.S. Engines Inc. is skilled and knowledgeable about Marine engines and their rebuilt engines meet the standards set by the automotive machining industry.

I suggested to my friend to get the advanced Mercruiser engine. With one from U.S. Engines Inc, he wouldn't have to pay premium for it and yet get to enjoy its fuel saving technology and added horsepower and torque.

All Mercuisers by U.S. Engines Inc. come with 7-year (or 500 hours) engine warranty. This shows how confident the company is of their quality.

Malaysian Held In India For Credit Card Clone Scam

Everyone knows that Malaysia is one of the top countries that clones credit cards. It's not something to be proud of, unfortunately. Well, yesterday, a Malaysian man made international headlines by being nabbed in India in possession of clone credit cards.

However, according to police, this man did the work under the instructions of a Nigerian, possibly a syndicate, and he was told to go to India from Malaysia, to shop with those clone credit cards. They possibly have plans to sell their purchases for cash later on.

But it's too bad for him that the owner of the shop where he wanted to buy a mobile phone from found his actions to be highly suspicious. In addition, the owner saw that he was carrying a lot of credit cards, too many for any normal person to carry!

Malaysians are bad, Nigerians are bad but when nationals from these two countries get together, it's certainly a very dangerous mix.

Supplier of Electric Motors and Hydraulic Pumps

I have a friend who told me that because of the weak economy, no it has yet to recover, he is trying to come up ways to cut cost. My friend is in the manufacturing sector and has just recently took over the helm of the company that was founded by his grandfather.

I suggested that he take a look into procurement of his hardware and any slight savings would make a difference in the long run. Fremont Industrial Supply is a major distributor of quality power transmission components from Pneumatic valves to air line preparation components to gear reducers and bearings.

Besides offering a full range of power transmission components from more than 50 manufacturers and at highly competitive prices, you are assured that quality is never compromised in any of the products they carry. Also, Fremont Industrial Supply makes sure that you entire shopping experience with them is a cost effective one, handling orders by phone and shipping orders as cheaply as possible by motor freight. Of course, if you are in urgent need of your purchase, Fremont Industrial Supply could meet that too with UPS Next Day Air.

In short, no matter if you are looking for Hydraulic rams or Electric motors, you should look for Fremont Industrial Supply, a company backed by almost 40 years of experience in the industry.

Stricter Gift Card Rules

I, along withe very one who like to give gift cards, cheer the new stricter rules that will govern gift cards be they issued by retail merchants, shopping centres or even credit card companies. Gift cards are very popular gifts especially among women and they are governed under the Credit CARD Act.

Some of the new restrictions to gift cards issuers include:

1. No inactivity fee imposed on gift cards until after 12 months it has not been used
2. Gift cards cannot expire for at least five years, which is more than enough time to shop
3. Only a one time fee can be charged on gift cards in a single month
4. Fees, expiration date, toll free number and/or website address must be printed at the back of gift cards
5. A one-time free can be charged upon purchase of the card

Looking at these partial list of new policies governing gift cards, I believe that a lot of people will have peace of mind buying and gifting gift cards when these are implemented Sunday, compared to currently.

It's Not Too Difficult To Make Money Online

A few of my friends are envious that I could make money online. I have to say that it wouldn't make me wealthy but I relish the freedom that making money online from home gives me.

As I said, it's not too difficult to make money online if you are a blogger or webmaster. The difficult part is to look for a reliable advertising network that works, that pays, and pays on time and stick with such a company. Simply.com is an online advertising facilitator that I recently discovered. Although I have known of this company previously, I just found out that they are open to publishers around the world.

The difference between Simply.com and other companies in a similar industry is that Simply.com publishers have the ability to earn up to 90% of advertising revenue. In my experience, this can be said as one of the highest paying networks out there. In addition, Simply.com publishers don't only earn from blogs and websites, they could also earn from social media apps.

Like the name of the company suggests, making money with Simply is simple; from the process of registering with the company as a publisher, inserting tags to your webpages to creating yet another income revenue through your website. Simply.com is a high performance network for both advertisers and publishers, driving targeted banner ads to publishers and targeted traffic to advertisers.

In Using Behavioural Targeting to Make Money Online from Banner Advertising, it outlines the advanced nature of these targeting methods, and how they work in real time to maximise revenue per site visit. Advertisers sign up for free and only pay for results. Honestly, people who are serious about making good money through their online properties should register with Simply.com now.

Fake Credit Card Syndicate Busted

Police in Malaysia busted a fake credit card syndicate after a man using a fake credit card that to book into a hotel. The hotel, finding the credit card to be fake, made a police report. A week later when the same man again made another booking at the hotel using another fake credit card, he was nabbed by police.

According to the police, approximately 23,000 fake credit cards were seized, following a raid from information gathered with the arrest of the first man. The police estimates each card to be charged for up to RM10,000 which translates to a loss of RM23 million by banks and other credit card issuers IF these cards were successfully used.

I can certainly understand how fake credit card syndicate works, where these fraudsters would buy expensive items with these cards and then sell off the items for cash, usually at a lower than market price but how could these people gain by staying at a luxury hotel? LOL

His & Hers Luggage Bags

My sister told me that for her husband's birthday that's coming soon, she is planning to buy a set of His & Hers luggage bags. She said that she needs to replace hers and since she is already buying, it would be cute to get one set for both of them. You know, I thought that young couples would only like to be so easily identified as a couple by wearing and using similar items but then my sister is young at heart.

She told me that using the same bags may cause confusion, though. So I suggested that she gets custom luggage tags made so that she could easily make out which bag belongs to whom! Also, since she initially wanted to give him a personalized gift for his birthday and then subsequently changed her mind, getting custom tags makes up for it.

Increased Credit Limit Beyond Holder's Ability

A few of my friends have told me that their credit card issuers, which in some instances are banks, have without solicitation, increased the credit limit of their credit cards. This isn't a bad thing is the credit card holder can afford that but then in most cases, these credit card holders already hold more than a couple of credit cards and they only have one pay cheque.

Of course, compared to banks that are offering "loans", this isn't so bad if the credit card holder knows how to manage his finances and know where to draw the line in charging his credit card but I read about a pensioner who had his credit card limit increased so high even though he is a pensioner only and definitely couldn't afford that kind of credit limit.

In the end, after running up a moderate debt, his bank had to wipe off his debt as they declare that this is a special case which I think they are admitting to their error in extending credit to the wrong customer!

Comparing Cheap Health Insurance Policies

Lately, I have been requesting for health insurance quotes from a few companies and have been comparing the policies. It's not easy to decide which one to go with. I have been wanting to subscribe to a plan for a long time but simple couldn't commit myself yet because a better one seems to come along just when I thought that I have found the plan that I was looking for.

I consulted a friend and she told me that health insurance in nc, where she lives, has more comprehensive health insurance policies and they are cheaper too. That wouldn't help me since I don't live in NC but it is still good to compare to see what I'm missing out on!

Grab A Piece Of Mad Men History

If you love Mad Men, the TV series that is in its fourth season currently, then you have five more days to grab a piece of its history. There are approximately 116 items on auction on eBay right now and all of them have received multiple bids from fans. The most popular one is the walk-on-role in Season 5 of Mad Men. That's my dream item too but I am too poor to bid on it, or even want to try.

I don't really understand people who bid on auctions, you know? Even though I am a seller myself and love it when I receive bids on my items, I wonder why people would bid early, fighting with other bidders, and only end up pushing the price higher, which one of the interested bidders would have to fork out.

Claiming The Cost of Medication

My friend, who has a comprehensive medical insurance plan, told me that his insurance agent told him that his policy will only cover three months of medication now that he is discharged from hospital. My friend says that if that is the case, he will be transferring to a public hospital instead of private. That way, he would be getting his prescription filled almost for free and even if some have to be bought at private pharmacies, it wouldn't be as expensive.

If my friend, as a Medicare beneficiary, qualifies for Medicare part D plan, he wouldn't have such a problem and would get to enjoy subsidized prescription drugs. Unfortunately, my friend isn't enrolled in Medicare's plan. Well, insurance is like this. You will only miss it if you don't have it!

J.D. Salinger Toilet On eBay

An eBay seller has put up a toilet that was owned and used by writer J.D. Salinger. According to the seller, this toilet is dated 1962 and sat at J.D.'s house in Cornish, New Hampshire. As a way to authenticate the item, the toilet will comes with a letter dated 16th April, 2010, signed by Joan Littlefield, who, along with her husband, are new owners of J.D. Salinger's house and had the toilet removed and replaced.

The best thing about this auction is that the toilet will come uncleaned. All together now.....EEEEWWWW!!! But judging from the photos in the auction, it doesn't really look dirty at all, like it had just been cleaned.

So how much would you pay for this toilet? The Buy It Now (BIN) price is a cool US$1 million. Is that overpriced or what? Not if you are a fan of J.D. Salinger's books.

Bunk Beds For Kids & Adults

When I told my friend that when I have my own house, I am going to furnish the guest room with bunk beds, she thought that I was joking because according to her, bunk beds are no longer in fashion. How wrong could she be? When I came across the website of Mom's Bunk House, I was delighted, like a kid let to run free in a candy store. There are just so many different designs of bunk beds for kids but for adults as well! Yes, bunk beds aren't only for kids, you know?

Mom's Bunk House is a family-based company so you can be sure you will receive hands-on customer service and attention to detail at Mom's. They really know what their customers want in terms of bunk beds wood, design and finishing and have taken pains to see that requirements are met both in safety functioning and style.

The good news is that bunk beds for kids are shipped free and even better news is that all stocks are warehoused locally so orders are processed fast and shipped within two business days.

It doesn't matter what kind of twin bunk bed you have in mind, I believe you will find it at Mom's Bunk House. In addition to quality bunk beds, you can also find complementary bedroom furniture like dressers, nightstands and desks if you are looking for an entire bedroom set.

For my future guestroom I am thinking of a twin over double design, that way if family visit, the parents can sleep in the double, and one of the kids can sleep above. Or maybe do they have a double over a double?

Credit Card Debt In the Event Of Death

I read about this elderly lady who at 74, owes "$41,000 on 12 credit cards with interest rates ranging from 9.9% to 29.9%". I discussed this case with a few friends and asked them what's the best option for the woman.

A friend said that there's nothing to do but to continue using the credit card. She is 74 already, after all, what could the law do to her? I am surprised though, that she just lost her full time job three months ago. 74 and still putting in the hours? My, life must be really, really tough.

An aunt passed away suddenly at the age of 64 a couple of weeks ago. From what I understand, she had a few credit cards to her name, all of which she owes money and only settled the minimum amount each month.

In the event of death, all credit card debt is written off. If we had known that she would be leaving us, we could easily charge her card to the maximum since credit card debt is personal to holder anyway.

No Frills Investment

My friend says that he's doing quite well trading in stocks. From what I understand, he recently picked it up again after losing his job. He asked me to buy stocks too and said that since I am at the computer the whole day, it would not be too difficult. I guess he doesn't know that I am online to work and not to play.

As a busy working person, albeit a home-based worker, I am more interested in no-frills investments. I have read about people buying gold bullion online and have thought of following suit. I like the fact that once bought, I could conveniently "forget" about it and nothing bad would happen. Of course, the price may dip but since I am in for the long haul, the effect wouldn't be too bad. Gold will always be valuable and recognized throughout the world.

This isn't to say that there is zero risk investing in bullion. In fact, all investments come with some degree of risk. However, with gold bullion, I think the risk is minimal.

Seeking Financial Freedom

I asked my friend why he works so hard, he makes me feel ashamed that I spend my days loitering while he goes out and about working outdoors in the heat. Both of us work for ourselves so it's a lot tougher than people who are employed and who receive a fixed pay cheque at the end of the month. People who are self-employed, on the other hand, have to be on their toes all the time.

Still, like I said, he works a lot harder than I. So I asked him what's his motivation so that I could emulate, if I could. He said that he is seeking financial freedom. Right now, I would say that he has a comfortable income level but if he stops working due to whatever reason, his income will be drastically affected too.

What my friend aims for is to be able to maintain this current lifestyle even though he is not working. His income may be slightly lower but he hopes to still be able to enjoy the little luxuries in life apart from taking care of daily expenses. This is a great motivational factor and exactly why I am looking to create streams of residual income, so far unsuccessfully, unfortunately!

Legal Tender In Malaysia

Bank Negara issued a statement today that in Malaysia, the only legal tender is Ringgit (and sen). I am quite surprised that there are people using "Dinar" in Malaysia for their purchases. Well, if you are making online purchases then all currencies are legal tender depending on which country the store is based in. Of course, USD is the global currency.

But if you are doing sales in Malaysia, and you would like to accept all forms of currencies, you can do so if your customers pay by credit card. I have seen notices of these in retail stores in KLCC where many of the customers are from overseas.

For cash business though, even if Ringgit is the only legal tender, I don't think it hurts, especially if the currency is stronger. Teehee

Researching Precious Metal Investments

I was quite surprised to receive a text message from a friend who said that he is contemplating investing into precious metals. This is a friend who is extremely careful with his money and wouldn't even buy stocks. In fact, he wouldn't even want to open an FD account, even though I have urged him to. Why would he want to keep his cash in a savings account where interest is so low? I wonder what brought on the change. Perhaps he is learning how to make his money work for him.

Anyway, since my friend is a newbie, I suggested he takes a look at the website of United States Gold Bureau where he would be able to obtain the latest news and information on precious metals investments. Investing in precious metals, one needs to keep a constant eye on the market, not only on the risk but also no new windows of opportunities to gain further entry into the market.

Carrying A Credit Balance

A friend told me that he ran up a credit card bill of almost $10,000. That's a lot of money, obviously, and he said that he cannot settle the bill in one lump sum. This means that he has to carry forward some balance every month and pay interest on it. That's not the smartest thing to do,of course, but he said that he hasn't a choice. What is even more worrisome is that he just purchased a car six months ago and still has 4.5 years of installment on the car. Moreover, he will be leaving his job at the end of the month without securing a new job yet.

Actually, what this friend is facing is not something alien. Many people are in his shoes. Financial advisers say that it's foolish to carry a credit balance but financial institutions love people like this. In fact, if you take out a loan with them, they would penalize you should you wish to repay the loan sooner than the term of the loan!

Computer Surveillance Tool

My friend, who runs a company, tells me that because of the lackluster economy, he is taking proactive steps to toe the line among his employees. Previously, he didn't enforce his policies on them and even though he knows that they have been spending too much time online on websites like Facebook playing games during work hours. He turned a blind eye on their activities as long as work gets done at the end of the day. They may be slower, they may make mistakes but my friend is a good boss and he understands that they are all people with family to feed.

Now, he needs to make changes and after warning them of the enforcement of company policies, he found that there are some who are still sneakily using the computer to play games, chat, generally to go about their private business online.

My friend asked me if he should install keylogger. He is of two minds as he really doesn't want to intrude into the privacy of his staff but I think that he really should do something about their work attitude. He's the boss, he calls the shot. And anyway, I read that Facebook is causing British employers millions of dollars!

I told my friend that he could use Stealth iBot Computer Spy that's way better than keylogger as it leaves no hardware evidence and even couldn't be detected by any anti-spyware programs. In fact, the Stealth iBot Computer Spy itself looks like a regular pendrive.

Unlike key loggers, the Stealth iBot Computer Spy not only record keystrokes but also remembers the list of websites that the user has visited and, get this, capture screen shots too, all done covertly.

One thing I personally like about this computer surveillance tool is its ease of use so even people who are technology challenged would have no problems using it and start recording activities on the computer.

Charge Card vs. Credit Card

Last week, my bank called me up to offer me an American Express gold card, which is a charge card. I already have a credit card with them and apparently, these charge cards are only offered to their customers with good credit scores. I have no idea what my credit score is but I don't carry a credit card balance as I make sure that I settle the bill in full every month.

In the end, although I am tempted to accept the charge card, it is American Express gold card, after all, I turned down the offer. Still, I was interested enough to find out more about charge cards and the difference between charge and credit cards.

While credit cards come with a credit limit, charge cards don't. Also, while we do not have to settle our credit card bill in full and are only required to make a minimal payment if we so wish, charge cards require us to pay our bill in full or heft interest would be charged. It's called a charge card, you know? LOL

Increase In Personal Injury Court Cases

My friend, who works at a law firm, told me that there has been an increase in cases that involve personal injury. Being in touch with these injured parties, she feels kind of depressed that they normally do not get the compensation they deserve. She doesn't know if it's because of the law that generally isn't in favor of such victims or if the lawyer is just not good enough.

I told my friend that if these cases happened in Texas and if the victims had access to a good Texas personal injury attorney, then the guilty parties wouldn't have gotten away so easily. In fact, anyone who has suffered personal injury at the hands of others in whatever circumstances, should have a talk with the team of personal injury law experts at O'Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath.

Miley Cyrus Auctions Off Wardrobe On eBay For Charity

Miley Cyrus will be one of the latest celebrities to be auctioning off her wardrobe in the name of charity. This series of charity will being later this month and it will be in aid of Get Ur Good On, a non-profit organization aimed at connecting youth with volunteer and service opportunities in and around their communities.

Miley Cyrus is no stranger to charity of course, and if memory serves me well, she had auctioned off a dress on eBay before. Now, it looks like it will not be only one dress but also other stuff like accessories, bags and shoes. Hopefully.

Any Miley Cyrus fan shouldn't pass this chance. I know she has her detractors too but then people do make mistakes, especially when they are young and rich. Anyway, if interested, sign up to be alerted of the auction here: http://stores.ebay.com/Auction-Cause/Miley-Cyrus.html

New Responsibility

Since the sudden demise of my aunt, I have the new responsibility to taking care of her son, my cousin. I don't meant hat I have to take care of him physically, since he is a college student but I do have to see to his well being and make sure that he graduates from college by supporting him financially and emotionally.

A couple of days ago, my cousin gave me a call, feeling down that he could not cope with his math subjects. I know that he had to let his studies slide when his mother was very ill and we all had to take turns caring for her.

I am very sympathetic to him because I too struggled through Factoring polynomials when I was a student. Luckily for him now, thanks to the internet, he can receive free math help online and study at his convenience.

I told my cousin to check out TutorVista.com, a website that specializes in helping K-12 and college students to solve math problems. In fact, what I like about studying this way is the privacy the students enjoy. They don't have to be afraid of having to ask questions in front of their classmates.

Also, unlike conventional math tutoring, Math homework help is available round the clock, which means that students are free to study at the time that is most conducive for them and get the help they need even if it's way past midnight already. The internet is available 24/7, anyway.

I think students these days are so lucky to be able to receive free homework help. I can recall how desperate I was when I was a student needing help with solving Calculus problems. I can just recall the fierceness of my teacher!

Emma Watson's Childhood Stuff On eBay

Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame as Hermione Granger, is probably surprised to see her childhood school items on eBay no thanks to her old school mate, a comedian, who is probably not making it as well as Emma herself, who saw her fame as a chance to be entrepreneurial. And of course, eBay is the natural choice for anyone who is enterprising.

Although comedian Jack Whitehal has admitted that he is the one behind the sale of Emma Watson's childhood belongings, he is not apologetic about it at all, and even says that Emma Watson herself would not mind. I have not read any reports on Emma Watson's thoughts on this so perhaps, she really doesn't mind.

I have in my possession, childhood stuff of my young cousin, which my aunt asked me to keep for her. Now, I am just waiting for him to get famous.

Still Good To Invest In Gold

I have been reading up on gold investments recently; not because I have money to buy rare gold coins but a couple of my friends have been making good money from their gold investments and I am someone who wouldn't let a good opportunity pass.

I read that gold recently underwent a price correction which means that whoever is planning to venture into gold investment should take this opportunity to enter. Granted, gold price has risen considerably recently but according to analysts, there is still room for an uptrend since gold is a long-term investment.

Well, even though I know that it's a good time to gain entry now, I am so financially committed elsewhere that it's difficult to come up with money to invest in gold, much as I would like to, unfortunately!

405 Credit Card Holders Declared Bankrupt In 2009

It was recently announced by the Deputy Finance Minster, Datuk Donald Lim, in Dewan Negara, that a total of 405 credit card holders were declared bankrupt in 2009. There are a total of 3.2 million credit card holders in the country. ONLY. I am surprised the figure is so low.

According to Donald Lim, this figure of 405 bankruptcies due to credit card misuse and mismanagement, sees a decline of 1,656 cases in 2006. On the average, the percentage of credit card holders declared bankrupt was 0.04% out of the told number of principal card holders during the past five years from 2005 to 2009.

Whether this figure is high or low, I do not know but I think that bankruptcies from credit card is certainly something that's avoidable, if only people observe careful management of their finances.

Custom-Made Costume Jewelry Store

My friend, May, who has been running a successful home-based business selling custom-made costume jewelry, told me that she has plans to set up a small physical store to try to bring her product to a larger crowd of shoppers. In fact, she has already identified a local shopping mall that would not only be able to give her the kind of human traffic that she is looking for, especially on weekends, but only doesn't charge their tenants too high a rental.

According to May, she would be renting space, not too large but sufficient, and the best thing is that tenants like her will be provided with retail displays, a table and a chair. This means that she doesn't have to invest in any of these so her start-up capital is not too high.

May has asked if I would like to Joint Venture with her and I am seriously contemplating this opportunity to be in a REAL business. In fact, I have always fancied setting up a store like that, small it may be, but we surely have to start somewhere.

While I would have no hand in the creative aspect of the business, I could still pull my weight if I were her partner, since there are many things that I could do even though I may not know how to design or create costume jewelries. Thinking......

Hungarian Teen Sells Virginity For £200,000

A Hungarian teenager has apparently sold off her virginity to a British man, who fought off a strong challenge from an Irish for the honour of being the first man with the girl. The teenager dreams of being a doctor and in fact, has already secured a place at a university but because of family debts, is unable to proceed with her studies.

According to report, the auction started off on eBay but her listing was removed as it violates eBay's policy but the bidding war continued by email with the British man winning it.

The 18-year-old girl said that both men offered to marry her and promised to take care of her and her family but she has rejected their proposals as she felt that she is not ready for marriage yet at this point, though she is looking forward to visiting Britain soon.

Renting A Safe Deposit Box

My aunt passed away recently and in her will, which I prepared for her a few years ago, she left everything to her son. He is not the only child but he is the one that my aunt loves the most. Although he now has inherited a small fortune, I pity that he has quite a burden on his shoulders now and he is still only a student!

When my aunt was ill, she brought a box of jewelry to my house for safekeeping. Now, we are planning to returning everything to the son once he settles down. I have told him to rent a safe deposit box with the bank that he has an account with for convenience. I don't know what's inside the box or if its contents are even as valuable as diamonds but if his mother thought that it's important enough then he really should keep them well. His rented room near his college is really not a place to keep the jewelry.

Overflowing With Interior Decorating Ideas

I have been thinking of redecorating my room. Of course, if I could, I would do up the entire house but my budget is limited. Besides, I would like to one day own my own home and THEN would be the time to decorate it myself with contemporary sofas instead of the antique-style furniture that my dad prefers.

I have collected a lot of interior decorating magazines but then most of them are already outdated so now, instead of investing more money on magazines, I look for fresh ideas online. The thing is that although I have a lot of ideas, I can't decide on a central theme. Besides, I am always unable to justify my expenses. Yet, I have so many ideas and think that decorating only one room is not enough!

eBay Bucks Reward Program

eBay Bucks reward program is now open to all eBay buyers in the United States from 3rd August onwards. It was previously open to selected people who tested the program only, if I'm not mistaken.

eBay Bucks is a cash back reward program where buyers who pay for their eBay purchases with PayPal will receive 2% back on qualifying items. Such rewards will be calculated every quarter of the year and buyers will receive cash vouchers which they can then spend on eBay.

Of course, there are limitations to such programs. Besides excluding items sold on various categories, especially big ticket items, one could earn a maximum of US$200 eBay Bucks in a single purchase and US$500 every quarter.

This means that in order to maximize your cash rewards, you should space out your spending on eBay. Well, if you don't even qualify for it because you are not a US user shopping on eBay US, don't bother.

Cheap Unlimited Dial Up Internet Access

Although I have been a broadband internet user for years now and have asked my sister to switch to dsl service because of its speed and stability, my sister told me that she has no need for super fast internet connection and is happy with what she has right now. Since my sister uses the internet mainly for email, chatting and browsing only, she said that dial-up internet serves her very well.

My sister told me that she has a very good deal in her internet service package. She told me that it's just cheap dial up but then she has no complaints of its services so there's no reason to change. I can certainly understand that. Neither would I change if I subscribed to such a package too.

Some people may think that dial-up internet is of dinosaur age but then when a company like Copper.net is offering unlimited dial-up internet access from only US$9.95 per month for home users, I am tempted to switch my internet service provider too, bearing in mind all the money that I would save monthly in subscription fee alone! I'm paying for a lot of unused bandwidth monthly, anyway.

To me, the most important when it comes to internet service is its reliability and of course, affordability too. I believe the services offered by Copper.net, from dial-up to broadband to webhosting, are up to par. It is great to know that even with their extremely competitive rates, quality is not compromised! And this is what we cannot say for most internet service providers!

Wonder Woman's "Invisible Jet" Toy Lands On eBay

The novelty toy from Mattle at the recent Comic Con in the form of an empty toy box that houses Wonder Woman's Invisible Jet that was sold at Comic Con for US$5 a box is now available on eBay.

Although some people may think it's foolish to collect something like this, novelty items like this empty box of Wonder Woman's Invisible Jet is just the kind of items that I like to collect even though I am no fan of Wonder Woman. Besides, at US$5 each, or even after inflating the price to the current price of US$20, it is still worth collecting.

Some people may collect something with the aim of profitting from it later, some collect just for the love of something. In any case, an empty box may not be everyone's cup of tea. I still think it's an awesome marketing strategy, though.
